Submission + - Blu-Ray vs HD DVD in stalemate (yahoo.com)

mrops writes: Sony corps CEO believes that Blu-ray and HD DVD are in a stalemate. The fight is becoming more interesting, however I believe that HD DVD will be the eventual winner, 200$ players (and 100$ in some cases) and wide availability of titles makes it a clean winner.

In case we are heading towards a stalemate, we are already seeing dual blu-ray HD DVD drives like this LG drive featured at Best Buy.

One thing that is becoming clearer every day is that Blu-Ray will be your new Betamax.

Submission + - Scientists Invent 30 Year Continuous Power Laptop (nextenergynews.com)

mrops writes: Your next laptop could have a continuous power battery that lasts for 30 years without a single recharge thanks to work being funded by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory. The breakthrough betavoltaic power cells are constructed from semiconductors and use radioisotopes as the energy source. As the radioactive material decays it emits beta particles that transform into electric power capable of fueling an electrical device like a laptop for years.

I have two questions?
1) It gives off Tritium (Hydrogen with two neutrons) as a by product, which is somehow collected in porous silicon, Will this explodes? If it does, you wont be there to sue anyone.
2) When can I have this in my Prius.
