Comment Feet? (Score 0) 19

I'm not an engineer and probably not qualified for saying this. But it seems like it has plain(straight) feet. Doesn't that make it harder to walk? I mean human feet seems to support itself mainly with the heel and the ball of the feet, leaving a concave opening with soft tissue. Our feet seem to adapt when we step on something we don't try to balance a straight surface on it.

May I once again posit that war is not a natural result of being human, but rather one put upon mankind by strong, selfish, sociopaths that profit from it?

Can you provide a proof of that? us vs them mentality has driven men to war from the stone age to this day. We always found a way to hate and kill each other, mainly because of our primal instinct of protecting our people from the unknown. Or in some cases war has been justified as a legitimate means to end some sort of injustice.

What you say sounds very nice, and I bet it felt good to write it. But fear and violence are part of our most basic programming, and it's something that we slowly started to drive off in most advanced societies (mainly because most of our primary needs are being satisfied).

Space traveling doesn't mean that we had found a way to end scarcity (probably being colonists on new planets mean that we have other issues and problems worth fighting for), or to evolve beyond our capacity to hate each other.

Civ5 is unplayable for me, I'm not a hardcore gamer but I think an 8 core pc with 8 gb of ram and a SSD should handle an old strategy game . It becomes somewhat playable if I turn off the City States ( at least until the renaissance epoch) which are BTW one of the stupidest game mechanics they could possibly introduce. Luckily Civ4 runs great on WINE.

And then Depression quest comes and says basically "nope! indie games are now HTML files because i have relationships with kotaku",

How is that so? there are a lot of good videogames still being developed. This reminds me of people who were born in "le wrong generation" because they found out that listening to Led Zeppelin is cooler and edgier than Miley Cyrus, and they can be smug about it saying that no one makes good music nowadays which is wrong because if you don't live with your head up your ass you'll find that there are a lot of good music being made by a lot of lesser known artists

Videogames are in the same status, there is a lot of mainstream shit but it's easy to find good games focused on gameplay, and honestly I don't see how they are threatened, since following the devblogs of many cool games they don't really seem affected. And we are talking of not so indie developer studios such as Paradox Interactive, CD Projekt and Amplitude studios come just to name a few.

I don't really identify myself as a gamer, but really dude, no one is taking away the fun for you.

Sorry but I'm not a native english speaker and that sounds confusing as hell. If you guys/girls are going to do shit like that you should really come up with a new standard way to get into your language because that's not how is being thaught around the world. Or better, why not use he/she like that? Or that would offend people that identify themselves as potato?

In that case you can then add he/she/it and it's still more correct than "them".

It's important. If you don't think it is, try looking for any gendered pronoun in (say) the Eclipe Documentation [eclipse.org] (Think IBM) or in the Java Tutorial [oracle.com] (think Oracle).
