I'm in agreement. I was just pointing out to the person who threw a little god tantrum that bashing creationists is not necessarily the same as bashing the religious. The line is fuzzy, to be sure, but it's there.

Being a theist does not equal being a creationist. Not everyone who believes in a deity is an ID proponent.

How could a company that consistently produced quality entertainment for nearly two decades be reduced to a mere shadow of its former self? What happened? As probably one of the few people on /. that actually loved FFXI, I have to say, FFXIV was a complete waste of time. FFXI was fun, but it didn't age well, and there were a lot of things that SE could have learned from and done better. Instead of learning from their mistakes, they ended up making a less fun, more frustrating version of FFXI, and thought that making it pretty would solve everything. Well, it didn't, and now they're paying the price for it. SE needs to go back to the mindset that they had when they were just Square. They need to stop cranking out duds every 3 months. We need games that are on the caliber of FFVI, Chrono Trigger, and Xenogears. Otherwise, the world will simply stop caring about them... that is, if we haven't stopped caring already.

Even though limited federal involvement (herp derp don't want to violate states' rights) made pretty much every single civil issue WORSE in this country. Remember slavery? Or segregation? A healthy application of skepticism towards my own views rather than those that did not agree with me. It wasn't easy, but once I decided that I cared more about holding as many true beliefs and as few false beliefs as possible, I quickly discovered just how shaky and indefensible my position was.

Also, I was an Alex Jones disciple for a while, and over time I noticed that he was actually insane, and when he tried to talk about science it was a big red flag. That man is an idiot and he doesn't know what he's talking about most of the time.

I suppose that could be the case for those that believed that Bush masterminded the whole thing by himself, but the Truther community is largely composed of those who believe the evil NWO global shadow government that secretly controls everything and wants to kill us all masterminded it. Meh. It's all bullshit and it kind of makes me nauseous to think about how credulous and ignorant those people are.

No no no no no. You have obviously never been a 9/11 conspiracy theorist. 9/11 Truthers are invariably libertarians of the Alex Jones flavor. I'd wager that the percentage of 9/11 Truthers who are democrats is VASTLY lower than the number who would define themselves as either libertarian or paleoconservative. I can vouch for this as a former truther.

Actually, I didn't see anything Anti-American about it. It was private military working for a company, not the United States, and therefore was not related to America enough to be anti-American.

So conservatives would be okay with a gay couple deciding to get married? Or with decriminalizing marijuana? Or legalizing liquor sales on sundays? What makes the conservatives any less "elitist" for thinking that they can make better decisions for other people? I shouldn't be barred from buying a bottle of wine on Sunday because it might upset a hyper conservative Christian. Or if I was gay, I shouldn't be barred from entering into a simple legally binding contract with another consenting adult who happened to be the same sex. I'd say it's pretty damned "elitist" to make those decisions based on dogmatic values or personal prejudices.
