I think it will not get better at all! Everything will just become grey. Everything from Jony is either grey, black or white. I am really getting bored by all these colourless designs. I am sure this will now mean: no more colours in OSX. An example is Mail: it is grey with grey buttons, why not have some coloured icons? Of course Calendar is going to far in the other direction. They should find something in between.
It is in Europe but not in the EU.
2.8% unemployment rate!
Highest salaries in the world.
Health insurance, pension it is all there! US people would call it a communistic country though;-)
And it is a nice and very safe place to live (except if your name is Polanski...).

Stoobalou writes "WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been accused of 'treason' by a Florida man seeking damages for distress caused by the site's revelations about the US government. From the article: 'David Pitchford, a Florida trailer park resident, names Assange and WikiLeaks as defendants in a personal injury suit filed with the Florida Southern District Court in Miami. In the complaint filed on 6th January, Pitchford alleges that Assange's negligence has caused "hypertension," "depression" and "living in fear of being stricken by another heart attack and/or stroke" as a result of living "in fear of being on the brink of another nuclear [sic] WAR."' Just for good measure, it also alleges that Assange and WikiLeaks are guilty of 'terorism [sic], espionage and treason.'"

JThaddeus writes "The Associated Press reports that 'After nine months of tests, researchers in France have identified the head of France's King Henry IV.' Henry was assassinated in 1610, and his head has been missing. His body was dug up and decapitated during the French Revolution. Researchers found features similar to those in royal portraits, and radiocarbon dating confirms that the head dates to the 17th Century. Interestingly, 'Perfumers on the team used their professionally trained noses to identify specific embalming substances in the mouth used to hide nasty odors.' The results have been published an online medical journal."
Take a radioactive rabbit and let it do its droppings somewhere...
I am sure if some terrorist had released such rabbits in some western city some poor country would be bombarded right now.
Facebook was down and worldwide productivity went up by 50%:-) They should start to have Facebook off (Faceoff) days, you know like days without any cars in the cities.
dmbkiwi writes "The latest in the 4.x series of the KDE Software Compilation is due to be released in early August 2010. With the first beta of this release recently unleashed, I thought I'd download the openSuse packages and see what 4.5's got in store for us."
Yep, native, that is if you think that Swiss people speak German:-)
Actually this is why I get a bit itchy when there is someone going "grammar nazi" commenting my not too perfect English. But then this is slashdot, isn't it...

From the German Wikipedia:
In der Chemie bezeichnet man Reaktionen, die isoliert nicht umkehrbar sind, als irreversibel. So verbinden sich Kohlenstoff und Sauerstoff zu Kohlenstoffdioxid.
So, it is not only right to say "irreversibel" in this case but the only correct way to say it in this case (chemical reactions)!
Ja, ja alles klar: Dann halt hier auf gut Deutsch:
Das Problem ist dass irreversible chemische Reaktionen in der Batterie stattfinden.
Better like this?
The problem are irreversible chemical reactions that are taking place inside of the battery. This depends a lot of how "clean" the starting material was when the battery was built. Interestingly it is not the loading and discharging cycle numbers that count (no memory effect!) but how a battery is stored (charged or not and temperature of storage).
So: Store your batteries at low temperature and partially charged.
