Company executives refused to provide further information regarding the cause of the unexpected shutdown, only issuing a cryptic error number of $00038FF577 and advising all interested parties to "contact their system administrator."

An anonymous reader writes: In a bold and oppressive move, Wikipedia has prohibited modification to its April Fools' Day page. Visiting the page today yields the message: "Editing of this article by unregistered or newly registered users is currently disabled because of vandalism due to the fact that it is April Fools Day." What's next? Prohibiting the modification of the International Waffle Day page on International Waffle Day? The Union of Transylvania with Romania Day on the Union of Transylvania with Romania Day? Or the Death to America Day page on Death to America Day? I, for one, am shocked.

Henri Sivonen writes: "The Web Hypertext Application Technology Task Force revealed today its secret behind-the-closed-doors plans for HTML6. HTML6 will use OOXML as the serialization for backwards compatibility with the installed base of office suites. The architectural model will be based on the principle of separation of semantics from presentation and integrates with the enterprise-strength backplane for rich applications."
