Submission + - Install Ubuntu with Windows (wubi-installer.org) 2

mlauzon writes: "If you're a Windows user itching to try Linux, but uncertain as to how exactly to go about it, give Wubi a try. Wubi, an unofficial Ubuntu installer, lets you install Ubuntu onto your Windows PC just as you would any other app. This means you needn't worry about portioning your computer or using different bootloaders. Nothing so technical and geekish as that. This is aimed at those who while aren't necessarily computer illiterate, aren't so proficient as to be tooling around with potentially havoc wreaking new systems. One caveat: Wubi doesn't give you the latest Ubuntu 7.10, but rather 7.04; however, 7.10 is no doubt on the way. The download will cost you a full 10mb, not light, but if you don't like it, it can be easily uninstalled. Give it a try, it's free, and you'll have nothing to worry about, really.

This is a great way for Windows users to get in touch with another Operating System without having to have any special tech knowledge or skill. Basically, it's hazard-free. You can try it and leave it just like that. No strings attached. Free too.

Will mainstream Windows users even care to try out an outdated version of Ubuntu? Is the weighty 10mb download too much? Does it come with tutorials that explain how to use the system?"

WirePosted writes: "It was one of those fortuitous coincidences Shortly after I wrote a report this morning on the US web site, PlayerBlock , where you can slag your latest date for all to read, so long as they have that person's mobile phone number, I received one of Ovum's regular comment pieces. This one on the new challenges we all face through the rapid emergence of social networking."
