Newspapers will either adapt, or they won't. I'd rather have a lot more, smaller newspapers (and local papers seem to do just fine, because they can get locally-targeted advertising)

As someone who works at one of those smaller local papers that is part of a larger corporation, I can tell you that we're getting hit just as hard as the bigger papers. And if you consider losing benefits, having just enough employees on staff to squeak by and having some of those staff work ridiculous hours to just stay above water as just fine then I dub thee a masochist.

stoolpigeon writes: "A union representing 570 space shuttle program workers at the Kennedy Space Center voted to strike Saturday, less than a week before the planned launch of the shuttle Atlantis. The International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers, which represents the United Space Alliance employees, rejected the company's contract offer Saturday morning, Florida Today reported. The union could strike as early as June 9, a day after NASA officials plan to launch Atlantis. It was unclear Saturday whether the vote to strike could affect the launch schedule."

Yoooder writes: CNN Reports: CAIRO, Egypt (AP) — Customs officers at Cairo's airport have detained a man bound for Saudi Arabia who was trying to smuggle 700 live snakes on a plane, airport authorities said. The officers were stunned when a passenger, identified as Yahia Rahim Tulba, told them his carryon bag contained live snakes after he was asked to open it. Tulba opened his bag to show the snakes to the police and asked the officers, who held a safe distance, not to come close.
