An anonymous reader writes "According to OK Cupid's survey of 552,000 user pictures iPhone users have more sexual partners than BlackBerry or Android owners. By age 30, the average male iPhone user has had about 10 partners while female iPhone users have had 12. By contrast, BlackBerry users hover around 8 partners and Android users have a mere 6. As the blog's author's wryly observe: 'Finally, statistical proof that iPhone users aren't just getting f*@ked by Apple.'"

Of the 9,785 people with smartphones polled by OKCupid, men with iPhones had an average of 10 sexual partners by age 30, compared to 8.1 partners for those with BlackBerrys, and 6 partners for those with Android-based smartphones.

Gruturo writes: When, after 3D Realm's fall, they were taken to court by their publisher over the existing unfinished game material (art, code, etc) I knew there could still be hope (also, after 12 years of practicing patience and faith, I had good training), and, lo and behold, this thing might end up existing by the end of the year. Gearbox, which has a reputation for actually completing products, is rumored to have been working on it for some time.

I fully expect Wired to give them the front page when it goes on sale (admittedly far from certain, but when did such a thing ever stop DNF loyalists?)

I wonder if Slash000's preorder will be still valid.

Highlights include a Webkit browser rendering option for Konqueror, a new caching mechanism for a faster experience and a re-worked notification system. Another new feature is Perl bindings, in addition to Python, Ruby and JavaScript support. The Phonon multimedia library now integrates with PulseAudio. See this interview with KDE developer and spokesperson Sebastian Kugler on how KDE can continue to be innovative in the KDE4 age. Packages should be available for most Linux distributions in the coming days. More than 16000 bug fixes were committed since 4.4."

You may not have noticed it, but the current hard drive recording technology is in the second half of its life and a new technology will be introduced within 3 to 5 years. Seagate says that this technology will be heat assisted recording (HAMR) and it will enable 50x greater storage densities than the current perpendicular recording technology, which would be 300-500x the density of the previous linear recording. With PMR hard drives topping out at about 5-6TB in 3.5” drives, HAMR will take HDD manufacturers well beyond 100 TB.

The hoard has topped $1.1bn — imagine a stack of coins reaching almost seven times higher than the International Space Station — and the piles have grown so large the US Federal Reserve is running out of storage space.

Americans won't use the coins, preferring $1 notes. But the US keeps minting them anyway, and the Fed estimates it already has enough $1 coins to last the next 10 years.

I spoke with him on the phone using a Google Voice account, obviously a man of African decent faking a British accent. I could have him keep calling me to rack up long distance charges, but it doesn't seem like enough. We're at the point where they've solicited for money. Where do I go from here?

necro81 writes: The NY Times is reporting that former Senator Ted Stevens was aboard a small plane with eight others that crashed in remote southwest Alaska Monday night. Reuters is reporting that he died, along with at least four others. Meanwhile, the North American CEOof aerospace firm EADS and former NASA administrator Sean O'Keefe was was also reported in the crash. Rescue crews from the Alaska Air National Guard reached the site about ten hours after the initial crash.

Anyways, if you buy it in game - it would have to have been sold at a station, and the system is set up that you can't take PLEX outside of a station (or at least thats how it was about 3 months ago).

A recent patch a few weeks ago opened up the ability for PLEX to be transported by ship. CCP thought that would be a good idea to allow players more control of their items and I would have to agree with them. It's helpful for those who live deep out in 0.0 and would rather buy PLEX from a corp-mate than have to travel back into the Empire systems.
