Actually, I think that the Christian rules are even a bit stronger, and I'd correct your phrase as follows:
- So a Christian fanatic, who wishes to live by the word of his god is not compelled to convert or kill anyone
+ So a Christian fanatic, who wishes to live by the word of his god is compelled not to kill anyone
Don't plug the ethernet, disable WIFI, use a small computer to drive the display (XBMC on rpi does this well). Problem solved.
This is not at all about the French/US competition, the big French sites like fnac.com are subjected to the same rules of course.
You can think one thing or another about the rules, but they are about the big sites killing off the small local shops.
Are you sure that your situation is due to private sector competition rather than the happy effects of Europe structural funds?
I knew about the X11 subsystem, but always found it inconvenient to use. I did not even know that it had been forked off by Apple, thanks for the pointers.
This is a sincere question: can I display a single remote app (either running on Linux or another Mac OS X) on a Mac OS X desktop, among other, local, windows ? Cause I do this permanently with X11, and this is really the main reason why I would not even consider switching to OS X.
I have a better language with a one-liner for web browsing:

Regular checkups can detect disease before it becomes serious. The health AND economic benefits are very high and you don't want people to hesitate, which is why you cover the costs. Saves money and suffering.
I only watched the beginning at this point, but the presenter says something that does not bode too well for the rest. Speaking about how it was bad that the client side parser was insecure, especially for setuid clients:
This code was written in the eighties with the assumption that the server is trusted so there is little validation on the client side.
Well, of course the server is trusted. This is the code which runs on your local workstation. If your input terminal is compromised, you're so hosed anyway that it's not really worth considering exactly what hole they will be using !
And yet a value of 14K per 100K does not strike you as slightly implausible... There is an obvious transcription error, the comma is used as a decimal separator in many countries, so the number must be 14 not 14K. Still a big difference, but
To add an anecdotic data point, I was circumcized as an adult (male), and if I see a difference at all in terms of sensations, it would be in the direction of (very minor) improvement.
I concur in saying that to put male and female circumcisions on the same plane is preposterous, the intentions and consequences are close to opposite. The term "female circumcision" is misleading and should not be used at all. "Excision" is used in French for the female mutilation.
I find it very interesting that someone as intelligent as Larry Page could provide a statement so utterly disconnected from the reality of most people lives.
This is one more indication that in many cases, being separated from contact with ordinary people by richness of function actually affects your capacity to think "normally" or empathize.
This is one more element to show that letting these (otherwise perfectly respectable) people having too much influence on politics and government is extremely bad.
For what it may be worth, I have an all-in-one HP printer/scanner (model in subject). It's reasonably cheap, it is a good printer, and it has a double-sided scanner with auto-feeder which works really well.
I've scanned thousands of sheets with it recently (for archiving before shredding), and I would never have even tried it without the automatic scanning.
Disclaimer: not an HP employee, have no HP stock...
I'm surprised that no mention of this surfaced, but, "computer crashed while copying files and won't boot" means that you have a hardware compatibility issue. Either an actual hardware problem, or just that the Linux kernel does not like your motherboard.
Linux systems running on compatible hardware just don't ever crash (almost).
Whatever distribution you decide to try next, beat the crap out of the system before you invest any time in configuration, or store any important data on it.
Maybe this is just a kernel version issue, but I would be very uncomfortable using a system on which this happened. I'd try to search google for info about Linux + your motherboard model to see if other people have encountered problems.
Cheers,
