An anonymous reader writes: An interesting analysis has been released recently of Obama's COB in comparison to others from Hawaii during the appropriate time period. The article is very detailed and technical, including empirical evidence, and as such, while the claims do seem solid, not being an expert in matters of detecting forgeries, I cannot promise accuracy myself, although two other experts have come to the same conclusions. However, if news of this discovery spreads, other experts will evaluate the findings and determine whether the claim stands up to peer review. Now, if it is indeed a forgery, the motive is not clear, and I would not make any judgments myself on the matter. But, if the claims are verified as true, this certainly puts Obama in an uncomfortable position and gives him plenty of explaining to do before the November elections. In fact, for this reason and others, lawsuits are pending against Obama, concerning the legality of his candidacy.

When logged into the main page here (slashdot.org), whenver I go to the section pages (i.e., developers.slashdot.org), I end up browsing as an anonymous user, because Opera 9.52 doesn't seem to be sending the cookies for Slashdot.org. This didn't occur in 9.2x or 9.51, but I think I've seen it in other past Opera versions.

Today I went to enter a competition from Duracell to win a Nintendo Wii by filling out an online form that requires entering your full name, address, and date of birth, and then proceeds to submit it via an unencrypted HTTP POST. The ultimate irony? The message at the bottom of the page that reads,

"Trust is a cornerstone of our corporate mission, and the success of our business depends on it. P&G is committed to maintaining your trust by protecting personal information we collect."

An album, "Songs for Tibet" was downloaded more than 40 times by Olympic athletes as a sign of solidarity for Tibet's cause. Ironically, this compilation had songs criticizing the 'great firewall of China' and that is the very thing that prohibited these songs from reaching the Chinese public. Artists on the compilation include Alanis Morissette, Garbage, Imogen Heap, Moby, Sting, Suzanne Vega, Underworld and others."
