Stoobalou writes: An online fantasy football game (soccer to our colonial cousins) that you play as matches are beamed live on the telly has launched, just as the new season kicks off.

Picklive is designed to let you play along with Premier League matches as they happen. You choose players for 10 minutes and get points for everything they do. You score if they do, or "assist" and also if they make decent passes, tackles or interceptions.

Looks like it is in Apple's favor now.

Today AAPL cap is $235 B, MSFT is 221 B, according to Google quotes.

If they only sold a bunch, one can rightfully assume that it's "Apple Fanboys", but they're not selling by the bucket-load, they're selling these things by the millions even if you're scratching your head "why?".

When someone is successful, it's useful to think about why they are successful - and sure if they stop doing "whatever they are doing wrong" maybe they will continue or prevent their future failure - or maybe there is something else going on and figuring out the reason can be quite informative. If you just think about the negative, you may never find out the truth. Who is buying it, what are people using it for, what are advantages - and it is a mistake to assume only idiots are buying it. Even if that is the case, remember the adage that you can learn from anyone, even an idiot.

I don't have one. I'm waiting to see what they do with V2.0. I'm thinking "why would I want one?" and I've been surprised that I have found a number of times where it could be useful.

An anonymous reader links to PC Authority with some hopeful news about untangling a persistent annoyance for laptop users — namely, the myriad power supplies called for by laptop makers: "'On a PC, an ATX power supply for example will screw into certain mounting holes, have a maximum size and shape, and will take a standard 3-pin "kettle cord" for incoming power. If it complies with these standards, the PSU will be able to bolt into any manufacturer's ATX case.' Laptop design, on the other hand, involves cramming a PC into a tiny chassis, which usually has its own thermal design and power distribution requirements. This has led to the somewhat bizarre situation where every manufacturer has its own laptop power supply design. It now appears that some of the major players in laptops are getting together to work on a standardized laptop power supply design. Not only are big players involved, but the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) has created a team to work on the power supply standard."

Get some Stevia no calorie but all natural (cough) sweetener.

Probably will taste about the same as that anti-matter swill that you've been using.

Plus it'll be somewhat healthier as you wouldn't have total annihilation going on in your digestive tract so you wouldn't need to eat as many Tums afterwards.

While I would agree with you, isn't there more than electrical charge being reversed - like quantum numbers.

Also while it seems quite reasonable to expect that gravity to be unaffected going from matter to anti matter, has it ever been demonstrated experimentally?

Nature always seems to have surprises to mess with out theories and our minds :-)

Not if driving cars in rural Ohio for fun isn't sustainable. Not that I really have an opinion on that, I haven't run the numbers. Here's a silly question: why does any auto racing series which claims to have a technical component still use internal combustion engines? Shouldn't auto racing be electric by now? Or at least running on a carbon-neutral fuel?

To return to the car analogy, it's like you bought a car which was advertised as being the best off-road vehicle on the market, if you just upgraded to monster truck wheels and tires. The dealer then finds out that people are using 4x4 vehicles to get to a magical land where vehicle accessories are cheaper than those sold by the dealer; in fact, they have accessories that make the vehicle useful for more purposes, so that the users are less compelled to buy another vehicle. So the dealer institutes a policy that whenever a vehicle is brought in to the dealer, they remove the front axle and the transfer case, and it becomes a 2WD vehicle; the user is simply lied to, and told that this change is necessary to make the vehicle safe, or perhaps to improve road safety. Now you're stuck with these gigantic wheels on a 2WD vehicle, and you look like an idiot driving down the road with 'em. They can be removed, but it's going to take additional labor, and you're going to have to put the original wheels back on. Unfortunately, in this car, you have to rebuild the entire car and replace all the fluids when you replace the wheels so now you have to do the oil, coolant, trans fluid...

I'm updating the slashdot firmware to remove the bad analogy option.
