I lved in India with my family setting up some engineering teams. Best two years of my career... but also the most challenging, simply because you have no idea how hard it is to adjust to living in a foreign culture until you have to do it.

Of course, if you have a crappy boss, it'll completely suck - like anywhere else..

Assmasher writes: Toys are infinitely cooler these days than they were when we were kids. While we had to subside on crappy Lego houses and weak Nerf guns, youngsters now get to craft accurate models of the Millennium Falcon and play with a foam arsenal that would make the CIA blush with envy.

The same goes for remote-controlled vehicles. We've already seen exactly how much fun can be had with a point-of-view camera, an RC Jeep and a little time. Now another crafty RC aficionado has applied the same camera tech to a remote-controlled F16 fighter jet.
There aren't words to describe how awesome this is.

This new study finds that the differences are apparent even when the brain processes common information, not just political topics. From the study, liberals were more likely to be accurate and showed more brain activity in the region associated with analyzing conflicts. A researcher not affiliated with the study stated, liberals 'could be expected to more readily accept new social, scientific or religious ideas.' Moreover, 'the results could explain why President Bush demonstrated a single-minded commitment to the Iraq war and why some people perceived Sen. John F. Kerry... as a flip-flopper.'"

It already accounts for almost 75% of the FLOPS for the whole project . Much in the same way as the GPU client produced amazing results, the PS3's cell architecture is ideally suited for Folding calculations. So don't buy one as a gaming console, buy one to save your grandmother.

Submission + - What do you do when you can't afford a SAN?

An anonymous reader writes: What's the next best solution to having a full SAN setup for central data storage? Setting up an enterprise level SAN is so expensive that the company I work for wants to know what other solutions there are to this situation. NAS is cool for at home, but would it work for a high trafficked website? I don't know of any self contained NAS solutions that offer data redundancy. The only way I can think of to get that would be to have an actual server with RAID set up on the disks. I have searched the web, reading white papers and other material, but I would like to hear from the horse's mouth what works best and is easiest to set up. One thing to keep in mind, and I know many /. readers will not like this but, we are in a Windows environment, and the gears that turn will not be able to change this.

Cortese's application portfolio in recent years has included PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Demantra and Hyperion. All have been acquired by Oracle in the last few years. "The good thing is I only have to write one cheque instead of four. The bad news is it's Oracle," he said.
