Comment stupid question (Score 1) 213

of course Apple will control the iPhone. Google is a search engine company that has written some web apps and a shaky mobile OS, and may have a full OS sometime soon. But they won't control the iPhone. And Apple has every right to make sure of that.

btw, you mods need to learn how to use the offtopic button a little more.

I've lived in the US and in Europe, and you can't compare the plans, use or utility between them. The US is huge, its population is huge, and most urban Americans use their cell as their only line, and they use it alot. 2000min a month is nothing, plus heavy data, You can't compare this to anywhere else. The UK has better rates, but doesn't cover nearly as much area or population. Try driving 30 hours away and make a call home and see how much it costs. In the US it's the same rate as it is if you were at home.

This is a nice idea but they'll never get it secure enough. I think the future is VPN and cloud computing- each with his own cloud. I want a home server that I can access from a remote dumb terminal/thin client. Browsers aren't reliable enough, and web apps are secondary and weak, a step backward. The OS is irrelevant, just a matter of taste. Plus the infrastructure will never support wandering from the current trend as long as there's money to be made.

Nobody got what they deserved. The shitheads who dl'd the trojan don't even notice it, which is why it works. Random people with bad luck are the ones who will notice it, and they didn't deserve it.

I often thought Adobe and the other popular hack targets should take an approach like this to discourage illegal dling, even though I don't care if they do or not, as I'm also a pirate from time to time. It would be the best way to thwart, if there were direct consequences, like a trojan that trashed the pirate machine. But this is totally displaced here, not that it's Adobe or Apple doing it.

And this has nothing to do with the OS, btw. Not that I care about that either.
