Journal Journal: NFL 2006: Week 17

Well it is the last week of the regular season. I hate this week because the league as a whole is at its most unpredictable. Half the teams go home after this week. Some teams with a chance to stay around will fold and some teams that are already finished will show surprising fight. How long will the first team units play?

Not surprisingly, I have yet to figure out my win-loss record. Too busy with holiday stuff. I will have it done for next week. Speaking of the holidays, I hope 2007 serves everyone with health and happiness.

Saturday, Dec. 30
N.Y. Giants at Washington 8:00 pm
I like the Redskins. The implosion is almost complete.

Sunday, Dec. 31
Carolina at New Orleans 1:00 pm
I like the Saints. The Panthers are ready for the off-season.

Cleveland at Houston 1:00 pm
I like the Texans. Houston has finally started to make some strides.

Detroit at Dallas 1:00 pm
I like the Cowboys. Easy win in Big D?

Jacksonville at Kansas City 1:00 pm
I like the Chiefs. The Jags could use a win but I do not think they are up to it at Arrowhead.

New England at Tennessee 1:00 pm
I like the Titans. The Titans are on something of a roll and I think the Patriots are missing heart.

Oakland at N.Y. Jets 1:00 pm
I like the Jets. This game means something for the Jets and they have the perfect beatable opponent.

Pittsburgh at Cincinnati 1:00 pm
I like the Steelers. The Steelers break the Bengals hearts once again.

Seattle at Tampa Bay 1:00 pm
I like the Seahawks. The 'Hawks need a win in the worse way.

St. Louis at Minnesota 1:00 pm
I like the Rams. I have an infamous soft spot for the Rams.

Arizona at San Diego 4:15 pm
I like the Chargers. No reason to pick the Cardinals.

Atlanta at Philadelphia 4:15 pm
I like the Eagles. Just cannot pick against the Eagles right now.

Buffalo at Baltimore 4:15 pm
I like the Ravens. The Ravens are rolling right now.

Miami at Indianapolis 4:15 pm
I like the Colts. The Colts need this win.

San Francisco at Denver 4:15 pm
I like the Broncos. Not an easy win but the Broncos prevail.

Green Bay at Chicago 8:15 pm
I like the Bears. If the Bears play Bears football then the Pack do not have a change. The only problem is that the Bears do not need to win this game.

Wow, Week 16 already! I still need to tally up my season standing, I will eventually. The AFC is still the stronger conference. The Bears along with maybe the Cowboys and Saints appear to be the only contenders in the NFC and they all have flaws. The Patriots only have one player going to the Pro Bowl. And so much more.

Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Christmas, or whatever holiday you celebrate, and that all your wishes come true.

Thursday, Dec. 21
Minnesota at Green Bay 8:00 p.m.
I like the Vikings. The Vikings are just the better team right now.

Saturday, Dec. 23
Kansas City at Oakland 8:00 p.m.
I like the Chiefs. What is there to like about Oakland?

Sunday, Dec. 24
Baltimore at Pittsburgh 1:00 p.m.
I like the Steelers. This might seem like a goofy pick at first but remember the Ravens have yet to sweep the Steelers in their season series.

Carolina at Atlanta 1:00 p.m.
I like the Falcons. Neither of these teams are playing all that great but Carolina seems to be playing like they do not even want to show up anymore.

Chicago at Detroit 1:00 p.m.
I like the Bears. Nothing wrong with the obvious.

Indianapolis at Houston 1:00 p.m.
I like the Colts. Guess the Colts are not dead yet, imagine that.

New England at Jacksonville 1:00 p.m.
I like the Jaguars. The Jags are an up and down team, this week I bet they are up.

New Orleans at N.Y. Giants 1:00 p.m.
I like the Saints. The experts say that the Giants can still this thing around. I am not so sure.

Tampa Bay at Cleveland 1:00 p.m.
I like the Browns. I think the Browns want it more right now.

Tennessee at Buffalo 1:00 p.m.
I like the Titans. The Titans continue to win to keep things interesting.

Washington at St. Louis 1:00 p.m.
I like the Rams. The Redskins cannot put two wins together this late in the year.

Arizona at San Francisco 4:05 p.m.
I like the 49ers. Norv Turner has done good things with that San Francisco offense.

Cincinnati at Denver 4:15 p.m.
I like the Bengals. The Bengals stay alive another week.

San Diego at Seattle 4:15 p.m.
I like the Chargers. Seattle's home field advantage has disappeared this year.

Monday, Dec. 25
Philadelphia at Dallas 5:00 p.m.
I like the Cowboys. Split the series, that is my thinking. T.O., Jeff Garcia, and the Eagles on Christmas! I don't know if any of that is good.

N.Y. Jets at Miami 8:30 p.m.
I like the Dolphins. The Dolphins are a second-half team.

I need to figure out my record for the year, I know.

Thursday, Dec. 14
San Francisco at Seattle 8:00 p.m.
I like the Seahawks. Yes, I remember what happened last time.

Saturday, Dec. 16
Dallas at Atlanta 8:00 p.m.
I like the Cowboys. The 'Boys get back to winning.

Sunday, Dec. 17
Cleveland at Baltimore 1:00 p.m.
I like the Ravens. The Ravens are an unstoppable train... until the playoffs!

Detroit at Green Bay 1:00 p.m.
I like the Lions. Gotta like somebody in each game.

Houston at New England 1:00 p.m.
I like the Patriots. I feel good about picking against the Patriots last week.

Jacksonville at Tennessee 1:00 p.m.
I like the Jaguars. Both of these teams are flying high right now.

Miami at Buffalo 1:00 p.m.
I like the Dolphins.

N.Y. Jets at Minnesota 1:00 p.m.
I like the Jets. The Jets get back to winning because they have to.

Pittsburgh at Carolina 1:00 p.m.
I like the Steelers. The Panthers are just not that good right now. I am starting to re-think the idea of John Fox being a really good coach.

Tampa Bay at Chicago 1:00 p.m.
I like the Bears. The Bucs are struggling.

Washington at New Orleans 1:00 p.m.
I like the Saints. I wonder what the Dolphins think about Drew Brees right now.

Denver at Arizona 4:05 p.m.
I like the Broncos. The Broncos have the better defense.

Philadelphia at N.Y. Giants 4:15 p.m.
I like the Giants. My poison?

St. Louis at Oakland 4:15 p.m.
I like the Rams. Oakland bad.

Kansas City at San Diego 8:15 p.m.
I like the Chargers. Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger both look better than Eli Manning. Wonder what the Giants think about that.

Monday, Dec. 18
Cincinnati at Indianapolis 8:30 p.m.
I like the Colts. I am not sure why.

User Journal

Journal Journal: NFL 2006: Week 14

Thursday, Dec. 7
Cleveland at Pittsburgh 8:00 p.m.
I like the Steelers. I should probably pick the Browns because the Steelers won their last meeting and I think it makes sense to see these these teams split the series but with the short week I got to go with the better team.

Sunday, Dec. 10
Atlanta at Tampa Bay 1:00 p.m.
I like the Falcons. Two teams going in the wrong direction.

Baltimore at Kansas City 1:00 p.m.
I like the Ravens. The Ravens rebound from a bad loss last week.

Indianapolis at Jacksonville 1:00 p.m.
I like the Colts. Really it more of a matter of not like the Jaguars.

Minnesota at Detroit 1:00 p.m.
I like the Vikings. The Lions almost pull off the upset last week; so they should still be suffering from the post-celebratory hangover, right?

New England at Miami 1:00 p.m.
I like the Dolphins. I felt the Dolphins would split this series at the beginning of the year and while I actually the Patriots will win I am sticking with my pre-season prediction here.

N.Y. Giants at Carolina 1:00 p.m.
I like the Panthers. The Giants are falling apart. The Panthers are being held together with duct tape. That is how I see it.

Oakland at Cincinnati 1:00 p.m.
I like the Bengals. This is a game the old Bengals would have lost.

Philadelphia at Washington 1:00 p.m.
I like the Eagles. I expected so much of the Redskins this year and the Eagles showed so much promise early. There is a lesson here.

Tennessee at Houston 1:00 p.m.
I like the Titans. Vince Young.

Green Bay at San Francisco 4:05 p.m.
I like the Packers. I don't know why.

Seattle at Arizona 4:05 p.m.
I like the Seahawks. The Cardinals are everybody's whipping boy!

Buffalo at N.Y. Jets 4:15 p.m.
I like the Jets. Who really thought the Jets would be decent this year?

Denver at San Diego 4:15 p.m.
I like the Chargers. Could it be that the Broncos miss Gary Kubiak?

New Orleans at Dallas 8:15 p.m.
I like the Cowboys. The Saints are a decent little team but they are not there yet. I was a fool for dismissing all of that pre-season Tony Romo hype.

Monday, Dec. 11
Chicago at St. Louis 8:30 p.m.
I like the Bears. Grossman has to elevate his game if the Bears are going to be big contenders in January and hopefully February.

Journal Journal: NFL 2006: Week 13 2

I have been thinking a lot lately about trying to pick a Super Bowl winner. I have narrowed the teams down to these four: Colts, Chargers, Cowboys, and Bears. Baltimore is too inconsistent. I believe that New England has only won one game against a team with a winning record (Chicago) and do not think they could win 4 playoff games.

Last week I was 12-4 :)

Thursday, Nov. 30
Baltimore at Cincinnati 8:00 p.m.
I like Baltimore. Looks like the Ravens will easily win the division.

Sunday, Dec. 3
Arizona at St. Louis 1:00 p.m.
I like the Rams. What happened to Denny Green? The guy used to be a good coach.

Atlanta at Washington 1:00 p.m.
I like the Falcons. I cannot believe this, rumors of the Falcons getting rid of Vick.

Detroit at New England 1:00 p.m.
I like the Patriots. The Patriots might have trouble with good teams but they usually do not falter against the not so good teams.

Indianapolis at Tennessee 1:00 p.m.
I like the Colts. This is probably going to be a tougher game than I am anticipating but I still like the Colts.

Kansas City at Cleveland 1:00 p.m.
I like the Chiefs. Things are a mess in Cleveland once again.

Minnesota at Chicago 1:00 p.m.
I like the Bears. This seems too obvious.

N.Y. Jets at Green Bay 1:00 p.m.
I like the Jets. The Jets can at least play defense.

San Diego at Buffalo 1:00 p.m.
I like the Chargers. Do not take too much from the game the Chargers had last week.

San Francisco at New Orleans 1:00 p.m.
I like the Saints. The Saints are fun to watch.

Houston at Oakland 4:05 p.m.
I like the Texans. Flip a coin.

Jacksonville at Miami 4:05 p.m.
I like the Dolphins. The Dolphins are probably playing a little better than the Jags.

Dallas at N.Y. Giants 4:15 p.m.
I like the Cowboys. The 'Boys are taking off and the Giants are repeating their second half slump.

Tampa Bay at Pittsburgh 4:15 p.m.
I like the Steelers. It has been a while since the Bucs beat the Steelers. At least I was right in saying the Bucs defense was aging before this season start. Sometimes I am almost convinced that I know what I am talking about.

Seattle at Denver 8:15 p.m.
I like the Seahawks. I think Denver rolling the dice with Cutler is more of a preparation for next year than a move to get far this year.

Monday, Dec. 4
Carolina at Philadelphia 8:30 p.m.
I like the Panthers. The Eagles continue to miss McNabb.

Last week my picks went 8-8. What a crazy season.

Thursday, Nov. 23
Miami at Detroit 12:30 p.m.
I like the Dolphins. Joey Harrington's revenge?

Tampa Bay at Dallas 4:15 p.m.
I like the Cowboys. Sure looks like the Cowboys are going to be the only NFC team left standing in the East.

Denver at Kansas City 8:00 p.m.
I like the Chiefs. Arrowhead is such a nasty place to play at.

Sunday, Nov. 26
Arizona at Minnesota 1:00 p.m.
I like the Vikings. So much more was expected of both of these teams. Poor Denny Green.

Carolina at Washington 1:00 p.m.
I like the Panthers. Sadly, I somehow picked the Redskins to win the East before the season started.

Cincinnati at Cleveland 1:00 p.m.
I like the Bengals. Cleveland is on the way up but they are unable to play a complete game.

Houston at N.Y. Jets 1:00 p.m.
I like the Jets. The Jets might have some woes on offense but they are a surprisingly good team.

Jacksonville at Buffalo 1:00 p.m.
I like the Jaguars. The Bills cannot luck out again so soon.

New Orleans at Atlanta 1:00 p.m.
I like the Saints. The Saints are the better team.

Pittsburgh at Baltimore 1:00 p.m.
I like the Ravens. I would not be surprised if the Steelers beat the Ravens but Pittsburgh seems to be finding ways to lose this year.

San Francisco at St. Louis 1:00 p.m.
I like the Rams. Frank Gore might be running wild but is that enough?

Oakland at San Diego 4:05 p.m.
I like the Chargers. Spot the Raiders a million points and what the Chargers comeback. Just kidding, easy win this week for the bolts.

Chicago at New England 4:15 p.m.
I like the Bears. It does not matter if the Patriots win, the Patriots are no longer invincible.

N.Y. Giants at Tennessee 4:15 p.m.
I like the Giants. Tennessee cannot continue to luck out like they have.

Philadelphia at Indianapolis 8:15 p.m.
I like the Colts. The Colts rebound and the Eagles free fall.

Monday, Nov. 27
Green Bay at Seattle 8:30 p.m.
I like the Seahawks. I cannot think of a reason to pick the Pack.

Ugh, posting on Sunday again! Well my next post will be on Tuesday, I promise. Anyhow, I went 8-8 last week. Lets see what happens this week.

Sunday, Nov. 19
Atlanta at Baltimore 1:00 p.m.
I like the Ravens. The Falcons are too up and down. So are the Ravens really but they have been able to have the lead at the end of games.

Buffalo at Houston 1:00 p.m.
I like the Bills. This game being in Houston might be enough to help the Texans.

Chicago at N.Y. Jets 1:00 p.m.
I like the Bears. The Jets crash after last weeks big win.

Cincinnati at New Orleans 1:00 p.m.
I like the Saints. The Bengals are unable to play 60 minutes of football.

Minnesota at Miami 1:00 p.m.
I like the Dolphins. What has happened to the Vikings of late? The Dolphins build on their big win from last week.

New England at Green Bay 1:00 p.m.
I like the Patriots. The Packers are just what the doctor ordered for the Patriots.

Oakland at Kansas City 1:00 p.m.
I like the Chiefs. I could like just about anybody against Oakland.

Pittsburgh at Cleveland 1:00 p.m.
I like the Browns. I think the Browns might be playing with more heart right now than the Steelers and the Browns need to make up for laying down twice against the Steelers last year.

St. Louis at Carolina 1:00 p.m.
I like the Panthers. Flip a coin. I decided to go with Steve Smith.

Tennessee at Philadelphia 1:00 p.m.
I like the Eagles. Quietly, the Eagles are doing some really good things.

Washington at Tampa Bay 1:00 p.m.
I like the Redskins. I just cannot pick the Bucs.

Detroit at Arizona 4:05 p.m.
I like the Lions. Sooner or later the Lions have to start really winning.

Seattle at San Francisco 4:05 p.m.
I like the Seahawks. The 'Hawks are starting to get healthy again. Teams had their chance at them and could not deliver the kill.

Indianapolis at Dallas 4:15 p.m.
I like the Colts. This is probably the week the Colts go down but I am sticking with them until they are down.

San Diego at Denver 8:15 p.m.
I like the Chargers. That is one crazy offense those Chargers have.

Monday, Nov. 20
N.Y. Giants at Jacksonville 8:30 p.m.
I like the Giants. Bad decisions plague the Jacksonville coaching staff.

I really wish I had more time to enjoy football this season. It sure seems like anybody can win every week sort of season. Awesome.

Well last week I was 9-5. That leaves me 78-45 overall.

Sunday, Nov. 12
Baltimore at Tennessee 1:00 p.m.
I like the Ravens. I cannot think of a single reason to pick the Titans.

Buffalo at Indianapolis 1:00 p.m.
I like the Colts. Hope the Colts do not have a hangover.

Cleveland at Atlanta 1:00 p.m.
I like the Falcons.

Green Bay at Minnesota 1:00 p.m.
I like the Vikings. My reasoning is sort of stupid so I'm not telling!

Houston at Jacksonville 1:00 p.m.
I like the Jaguars. Wow, sounds like Byron Leftwich is likely to find a new home this off-season.

Kansas City at Miami 1:00 p.m.
I like the Chiefs. I still cannot believe the Chiefs are winning.

N.Y. Jets at New England 1:00 p.m.
I like the Patriots. Why would I pick the Jets?

San Diego at Cincinnati 1:00 p.m.
I like the Chargers. The Bengals are too content with just being better than the Steelers.

San Francisco at Detroit 1:00 p.m.
I like the Lions. Santa Clara?

Washington at Philadelphia 1:00 p.m.
I like the Eagles. I don't know. The Eagles sure started the season well.

Denver at Oakland 4:05 p.m.
I like the Broncos. Can't pick the Raiders.

Dallas at Arizona 4:15 p.m.
I like the Cowboys. Makes no sense to pick the Cardinals.

New Orleans at Pittsburgh 4:15 p.m.
I like the Saints. Wow, I cannot believe this. Who would have made this pick before the season started?

St. Louis at Seattle 4:15 p.m.
I like the Rams. The Rams do not jobbed a second time.

Chicago at N.Y. Giants 8:15 p.m.
I like the Bears. The sky is not falling in Chicago.

Monday, Nov. 13
Tampa Bay at Carolina 8:30 p.m.
I like the Panthers. Just do not trust Gru-dawg.

Last week I was 9-5 bringing my overall to 69-40. Wish I had caught to some games last week so I could write something but I have just been too busy (that is why I am posting this minutes before kickoff).
Sunday, Nov. 5
Atlanta at Detroit 1:00 p.m.
I like the Falcons. The Falcons just beat two tough AFC North teams, I think they can handle the Lions.

Cincinnati at Baltimore 1:00 p.m.
I like the Ravens. The Bengals just are not clicking.

Dallas at Washington 1:00 p.m.
I like the Cowboys. The Redskin free fall continues.

Green Bay at Buffalo 1:00 p.m.
I like the Packers. Buffalo, you fooled me early.

Houston at N.Y. Giants 1:00 p.m.
I like the Giants. Do I really need to put a reason here?

Kansas City at St. Louis 1:00 p.m.
I like the Chiefs. The Chiefs just win, don't ask me how.

Miami at Chicago 1:00 p.m.
I like the Bears. Have to pick the Bears until they lose a game or suffer significant injuries.

New Orleans at Tampa Bay 1:00 p.m.
I like the Saints. A dislike for Tampa Bay is driving this pick more than anything the Saints have done lately.

Tennessee at Jacksonville 1:00 p.m.
I like the Jaguars. The Jags beat the Eagles so they should handle the Titans, right?

Minnesota at San Francisco 4:05 p.m.
I like the Vikings.

Cleveland at San Diego 4:15 p.m.
I like the Chargers. I cannot think of a reason to pick the Browns.

Denver at Pittsburgh 4:15 p.m.
I like the Broncos. Pittsburgh is just a good football team playing bad football. Denver gets back on track after a tough game last week.

Indianapolis at New England 8:15 p.m.
I like the Colts. Like the Bears, I am going to keep picking the Colts until they start losing. Not crazy about the injuries the Colts are dealing with but they keep winning.

Monday, Nov. 6
Oakland at Seattle 8:30 p.m.
I like the Seahawks. No way do the Raiders win 3 in a row.

Wow, my picks just plain stunk last week: 4-9! Overall I am somehow 60-35. I thought it was much worse. I did not catch any games last Sunday so I cannot offer any of my usual stupid comments.

Sunday, Oct. 29
Arizona at Green Bay 1:00 p.m.
I like the Packers. How did the Cardinals lose to the Raiders? Sad.

Atlanta at Cincinnati 1:00 p.m.
I like the Falcons.

Baltimore at New Orleans 1:00 p.m.
I like the Ravens. Wonder how Ray Lewis is going to look more important than he really is this week.

Houston at Tennessee 1:00 p.m.
I like the Texans! Probably defies logic but we call the sport football even though feet rarely touch the ball; so does logic really need to prevail?

Jacksonville at Philadelphia 1:00 p.m.
I like the Eagles. Byron Leftwich hurt again, sigh.

Seattle at Kansas City 1:00 p.m.
I like the Chiefs. I cannot figure out either of these teams so I am going with Arrowhead.

San Francisco at Chicago 1:00 p.m.
I like the Bears. A no brainer.

Tampa Bay at N.Y. Giants 1:00 p.m.
I like the Giants. Scary good pass rush.

St. Louis at San Diego 4:05 p.m.
I like San Diego. Both of these teams seem to be building toward something good.

Indianapolis at Denver 4:15 p.m.
I like the Colts. Probably another bad pick on my part. Denver's defense might be stingy but the Denver offense is not putting up points. So I think the Colts can put up enough points to win.

N.Y. Jets at Cleveland 4:15 p.m.
I like the Jets. It is never good when you lose your offensive coordinator in the middle of the season.

Pittsburgh at Oakland 4:15 p.m.
I like the Steelers. Do I need a reason?

Dallas at Carolina 8:15 p.m.
I like the Panthers. The Cowboys are too desperate.

Monday, Oct. 30
New England at Minnesota 8:30 p.m
I like the Patriots. Okay, I hate the Patriots but sadly they are a consistent winner so I need them.

  • Steve McNair hurt. How often will I get to write that this season?
  • How bad are the Dolphins? I may not have bought into this year's hype about the Dolphins but I also did not think they would be bottom dwellers.
  • I think the Steelers showed why they should not be counted out just yet.
  • Wow, how about those New Orleans Saints?
  • The Seahawks were very lucky to escape with a win.
  • I said the Bengals are missing heart and I still picked them! Why?
  • I caught the last 5 minutes of the Carolina at Baltimore game and was again reminded how bad of a coach Brian Billick is.
  • What was Larry Johnson, who two games ago was gruesomely tackled by his facemask, thinking when he tackled Polamalu by the hair?
  • Chicago at Arizona, what a game! The Bears were very lucky to win. I still consider the Bears the best team in the league right now. Denny Green needs to take a chill pill. Arizona firing their offensive coordinator makes no sense.
  • What are the Ravens doing?

Sunday, Oct. 22
Carolina at Cincinnati 1:00 p.m.
I like the Panthers. I like Steve Smith more than Chad Johnson.

Detroit at N.Y. Jets 1:00 p.m.
I like the Jets. The Lions cannot put together a winning streak, could they?

Green Bay at Miami 1:00 p.m.
I like the Dolphins. If you like the Pack then pick the Pack. This one can go either way.

Jacksonville at Houston 1:00 p.m.
I like the Jaguars. Just dislike the Texans.

New England at Buffalo 1:00 p.m.
I like the Patriots. Buffalo coult not even beat the Lions...

Philadelphia at Tampa Bay 1:00 p.m.
I like the Eagles. The Bucs traded Booger!

Pittsburgh at Atlanta 1:00 p.m.
I like the Steelers. Two enigmatic teams. The Steelers looked better than the Falcons last week.

San Diego at Kansas City 1:00 p.m.
I like the Chargers. How could I pick the Chiefs after last week?

Denver at Cleveland 4:05 p.m.
I like the Broncos. What can I say about Clevend? I want to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame some day.

Arizona at Oakland 4:15 p.m.
I like the Cardinals. I know a lot of people think the Cardinals will be demoralized after that Chicago game but I disagree.

Minnesota at Seattle 4:15 p.m.
I like the Seahawks. Seahawks at home are close to unbeatable.

Washington at Indianapolis 4:15 p.m.

Buffalo at Detroit 1:00 p.m.
I like the Bills. Losman seems to more matruing each week.

Carolina at Baltimore 1:00 p.m.
I like the Ravens. The Panthers are playing below expectations and the Ravens are finally playing up to their expectations. Don't worry though, the Ravens will disappoint this year.

Cincinnati at Tampa Bay 1:00 p.m.
I like the Bengals. The Bengals need to play with more heart but the Bucs need more than that.

Houston at Dallas 1:00 p.m.
I like the Cowboys. I don't care what is going on on a certain team's sideline for this game.

N.Y. Giants at Atlanta 1:00 p.m.
I like the Falcons. Going by the numbers that I use, I should be picking the Giants. I just cannot trust the Giants, yet.

Philadelphia at New Orleans 1:00 p.m.
I like the Eagles. The Eagles are due for a letdown but so are the Saints.

Seattle at St. Louis 1:00 p.m.
I like the Rams! Perhaps I do not know what I am doing here. I want to say this is going to be the best game of the week but then it would probably turn into some 100-0 blowout.

Tennessee at Washington 1:00 p.m.
I like the Redskins. I just cannot like the Titans. What is it like to learn on the job Vince Young? I have say that I am surprised that Young has not looked completely bad.

Kansas City at Pittsburgh 4:15 p.m.

Miami at N.Y. Jets 4:15 p.m.
I like the Jets. Somebody has got to win this one.

San Diego at San Francisco 4:15 p.m.
I like the Chargers. Really good defense and a decent, and probably improving offense, will be too much for those men seeking gold. Sorry, that was pretty lame.

Oakland at Denver 8:15 p.m.

Detroit at Minnesota 1:00 p.m.
I like the Vikings. Detroit will be a much better team by this time next year.

Miami at New England 1:00 p.m.
I like the Patriots. Miami is not ready.

St. Louis at Green Bay 1:00 p.m.
I like the Rams. I like what the Rams are doing.

Tampa Bay at New Orleans 1:00 p.m.

I like the Colts. Jeff Fisher got too much credit for too long.

Washington at N.Y. Giants 1:00 p.m.
I like the Redskins. The Redskins offense is coming around but surprisingly the defense seems to need more work!

Kansas City at Arizona 4:05 p.m.
I like the Chiefs. Health issues will limit what the Chiefs do this year but not this Sunday.

N.Y. Jets at Jacksonville 4:05 p.m.
I like the Jaguars. It pains me to pick the Jags every week but what else can I do when I expect them to win?

Oakland at San Francisco 4:05 p.m.
I like the 49ers. This could be a very ugly game.

Dallas at Philadelphia 4:15 p.m.
I like the Eagles. This could be a very ugly game for different reasons.

Pittsburgh at San Diego 8:15 p.m.
I like the Steelers. The Steelers have to turn it around right now and I think they are ready.

Monday, Oct. 9
Baltimore at Denver 8:30 p.m.

I like the Broncos. Everybody seems to be making a lot of noise about the Ravens but I am not convinced.

  • Something is not right in New England. Sorry to state the obvious but I have to start somewhere. I think the Patriots may have lost too many of their guys and the way they lost them really hurt the rest of the team. What kind of message does it send to the team when they see important players leave because of money? And New England has cap room.

I am not sure that Tom Brady is completely healthy. I have not watched him play much this year but it seems like he is suffering from a tired arm at the very least. It is very interesint that New England have recently tried out Tommy Maddox and Vinny Testaverde.

  • The Steelers need to play better on offense. The defense is still there.
  • I am really starting to like Sean Payton.
  • I think Marvin Lewis is a better coach than Brian Billick. That is why the Bengals will win more games this year.
  • I do not know what to say about the T.O. suicide or medical scare.
  • I think Shaun Alexander's foot was cracked before this past Sunday.
  • I really hate that quick wide receiver screen.
  • It is really amazing what Chad Pennington is doing. No baseball pitcher has ever come back from a complete rotator cuff tear. As far as I could determine, Pennington had a complete tear. I guess the rotator cuff is more important to a pitcher but it is amazing what Pennington is doing.

Last week I went 8-6. So much for my worst week being 9-7. Oh well, that is the good thing about football- any given Sunday etc. It is going to take a few weeks, or a whole season, to figure out who is really good.
Sunday, Oct. 1
Arizona at Atlanta 1:00 p.m.

I like the Falcons. Arizona finds a way to lose or the Falcons find a way to win.

Dallas at Tennessee 1:00 p.m.
I like the Cowboys. Everybody beats up on the Titans.

Indianapolis at N.Y. Jets 1:00 p.m.
I like the Colts. I was foolish to pick against the Colts last week.

Miami at Houston 1:00 p.m.
I like the Dolphins. I don't know why.

Minnesota at Buffalo 1:00 p.m.
I like the Vikings. The Vikings cannot lose two in a row! I cannot believe I just wrote that.

New Orleans at Carolina 1:00 p.m.
I like the Panthers. I cannot figure out Carolina.

San Diego at Baltimore 1:00 p.m.
I like the Chargers. I can think of a lot more reasons why the Ravens should win instead of the Chargers. So I take the Chargers!

San Francisco at Kansas City 1:00 p.m.
I like the 49ers. I do not know why.

Detroit at St. Louis 4:05 p.m.
I like the Rams. This is probably a mistake. The Rams always hurt me. You have been warned.

Cleveland at Oakland 4:15 p.m.
I like the Browns. I know, Oakland looked pretty good last week ;)

Jacksonville at Washington 4:15 p.m.
I like the Jaguars. I find myself picking the Jaguars way too much. Wish I could pick against them.

New England at Cincinnati 4:15 p.m.
I like the Bengals. The Patriots have yet to look good for a complete game.

Seattle at Chicago 8:15 p.m.
I like the Bears. The Bears need to rediscover their running game. What is up with Cedric Benson?

Monday, Oct. 2
Green Bay at Philadelphia 8:30 p.m.

I like the Eagles. I just cannot pick the Pack attack.

Sunday, Sep. 24
Carolina at Tampa Bay 1:00 p.m.
I like the Panthers. Someone has to win this game. I just have less trust in Simms right now.

Chicago at Minnesota 1:00 p.m.
I like the Bears. Time for the Bears to show their division who is the boss.

Cincinnati at Pittsburgh 1:00 p.m.
I like the Bengals. The Steelers just appear to be in a funk right now.

Green Bay at Detroit 1:00 p.m.
I like the Lions. Why? It is in a dome. Probably nothing but I needed to write something here.

Jacksonville at Indianapolis 1:00 p.m.
I like the Jaguars. Indy is too beat up.

N.Y. Jets at Buffalo 1:00 p.m.
I like the Bills. The Bills have quite a defense.

Tennessee at Miami 1:00 p.m.
I like the Dolphins. The Dolphins are just better.

Washington at Houston 1:00 p.m.
I like the Redskins. I just cannot pick the Texans.

Baltimore at Cleveland 4:05 p.m.
I like the Ravens. With the way the Ravens are playing, it would be crazy for anyone to pick against them right now.

N.Y. Giants at Seattle 4:15 p.m.
I like the Giants. The Giants were robbed last year in Seattle.

Philadelphia at San Francisco 4:15 p.m.
I like the Eagles.

St. Louis at Arizona 4:15 p.m.
I like the Cardinals. Tough game to pick. I went with the Cards because they are at home, which seemingly means less and less every year.

Denver at New England 8:15 p.m.
I like the Patriots. Neither of these teams are playing that great but the Patriots are still finding ways to win.

Monday, Sep. 25
Atlanta at New Orleans 8:30 p.m.
I like the Falcons. Run Mikey, run. Roll Mikey, roll.
