Comment Drop Remote (Score 1) 101

I can see it now. Dropping the remote to my TV will soon be necessary for proper function which is certainly a step up. Currently, when the remote is dropped, I have spend 5 minutes hunting for the batteries that have fallen out and fallen under the couch.

Comment Slackware in 95 (Score 1) 739

My first experience was Slackware in 95. By then one of my friends and I had downloads all the packages and had well over a hundred 3.5" disks to install from.

One thing I remember was on my machine X never was working. I probably spent well over 100 hours trying to get it to work, but I had a very obscure video card at the time. I finally went back to windows, but kept my eye on linux. In 2000 I was able to create a server with a P166 that ran linux. It was amazing. Since then I've used linux for servers and backend work and windows for all my desktops (for games and ease of use for visitors).

Your argument for Agnosticism is entirely problematic. I agree with the premise that in 2 mutually exclusive descriptions of God, at least one is false in some manner and I agree that there are thousands of mutually exclusive description of God. However it doesn't follow necessarily that every description of God and thus religion is false. There could be a true one that you have never found.

Thus your point hinges not so much on multiple religions, but rather your view of credible proof. If there was credible proof for Christianity would that change things? What if there was credible proof for Islam?

In the end you haven't disprove Christianity based upon mutually exclusive religions, but rather your view of proof which may or may not be valid.

Comment IPCOP + URL Filter (Score 1) 678

I'd guess you are a geek and may actually have a network already setup in your house. Grab an old computer (Dumpster diving, go through your own stuff and put one together or goodwill) and install IPCop. Then install URL Filter which uses squid. The added benefit of having a secure firewall that blocks, porn, ads, trackers, spyware and just about anything else you could imagine.

I currently use this system in my own house and at my current job. It's not perfect. Any person who REALLY wants to get at something can. It does however cause a lot less problems.

Side Note: Am I the only one who searches for motherboard models and the first site listed by Google has Adult Friend Finder adds? That's enough for me to install that software.

Comment Re:So what? (Score 1) 1038

I tend to agree that logic and correspondingly philosophy would be ideal to education. It develops critical thinking skills and writing skills that just don't seem to appear. However, I think you'd be hard pressed to have students really WANT to take such classes.

Yes, there's always a correct answer to diffcult/absurd question. To the UFO Question, you respond, "What do you mean by a UFO?" If you truly mean an Unidentified Flying Object, then yes I've seen some thing in the air that I can't identify, be they planes, weather balloons, etc. If you mean a ship with aliens on them, the answer is I don't think I've ever see one of those. Otherwise I would be able to identify it.
