Does anyone know if ESPN will have the World Cup in 3D? I know 32 games will be in HD, and ESPN will start broadcasting in June, but nothing I have read had connected the two other than speculation. As a Canadian, I need to know if I need to get a grey market dish.

I for one am very excited and plan to be an extremely early adopter.

I have often wondered about the legality of this. Mostly because I have a very large vinyl collection. The RIAA and MPAA are always saying that you have bought only a license, so if I own lets say Meddle by Pink Floyd, I download a copy off some ftp, get caught and it goes to trial. Can I make a defense that "I have a license here, check out the cover art"? Also my PVR from my crappy Cable company, Shaw, often forgets its a PVR and doesn't record what its set to do. Meaning I end up downloading them. Do I have a defense there?

Aslso I hate Blue-Ray disks with Digital Copies. They always end up costing $10 more than regular Blue-Ray disks and to give me something I don't want or have any use for.

What it is saying is that you have an obligation to pick up your phone and call someone about it. Is that really too hard?

Yes, because of the stupid laws imposed on mobile phones that force them to have a loud distinct noise when you call 911. You simply cannot call the police without alerting everyone in the area. I once tried to report a domestic when a huge guy was pushing around his tiny girlfriend after the bar, and almost got myself flattened for the effort.

On my desktop I have a password protected text file. About once a month I make copies which I store in the safe in my office, as well as on the company ftp and on the encrypted memory card on my blackberry.

This is on top of the ten to fifteen I have memorized. I simply have too many to remember. Many having to be changed every 30 days.

Apple Patches Massive Holes In OS X 246

Trailrunner7 writes with this snippet from ThreatPost: "Apple's first Mac OS X security update for 2010 is out, providing cover for at least 12 serious vulnerabilities. The update, rated critical, plugs security holes that could lead to code execution vulnerabilities if a Mac user is tricked into opening audio files or surfing to a rigged Web site." Disney Releases 3D Texture Mapper Source Code 83

dsavi writes "Ptex, Walt Disney Animation Studio's cutting-edge 3D texture mapping library which was first used on nearly every surface in the 2008 animated feature Bolt, was released under the BSD license on Friday. Quoting the announcement on monophyl.com: 'We expect to follow Ptex with other open source projects that we hope the community will find beneficial. We will soon be launching a new Walt Disney Animation Studios Technology page under disneyanimation.com. It will include links to our open source projects as will as a library of recent publications.' This looks good for open source 3D graphics."

Looking at the Seattle map one interesting thing stands out for me. The rentals in the zip code of Seattle University seems completely different then everywhere else. What is interesting that ' pseudo intellectual' movies that you would think would be more popular, Milk, Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon, are relatively low in this area of learning, while mindless movies, Role Models, House Bunny, where the most popular.

Same at my work, except the exciting foreign places are places like Edmonton Alberta in the winter. And normally the 'perk' is having to leave town for an undetermined amount of time with a couple hours notice.

The thing that always gets me in trouble is getting a town car from the airport. I only do it when I know its cheaper than a taxi, but the accountants are always creating a fuss about it. Even when I submit a bill for both, and and the towncar is cheaper than the taxi back to the airport.

On my Blackberry I can almost write an entire email without looking. I normally glance about once every sentence or two. That said when I get distracted or drunk this gets extremely screwed up. About once a week I write a message where somewhere in the middle I end up with every character being shifted one key to the left or right. Only once have I managed to send one of these messages though.

I had a iPhone for a few weeks and personally couldn't get over the lack of physical buttons. But thats just me.
