That's pretty much how 2 of the first semester required courses for Comp Sci at the community college I went to were. Here's a computer, 'you press this button to turn it on after plugging the end of this cord in' Somehow multitasking and how to open a web browser were also required things. My .net teacher was a complete moron too, up to the point of taking points off of the projects we had to do because I included error checking in every single one (apparently I wasn't allowed to use knowledge of programming that I already had, and she hadnt taught that yet!) That was 2 years ago, I dropped out, now I'm joining the military to hopefully get a real education crashcourse style.

The parents knew EVERYTHING that was being said between their daughter and the 'boy' on myspace, and even got into huge fights with her about it. Her mom bitched to a reporter that she fought with her daughter over the language in one of her daughter's responses to him as well as that 'she wouldnt get off the computer when i told her to' Yea, it's definitely not their fault for letting their daughter, whom they knew to have the mental integrity of a wet tissue, get involved in something that ended like this. It makes no difference whether it was lori drew or a legitimate teenage boy, the parents let this happen either way.

Who cares if it is efficient, when all it is is the government saying 'we know how to save your money better than you do so give it to us now.' It's money that I worked hard to earn, and if I chose to invest it (assuming I was allowed to opt out/keep it) I would be able to make way more than the government will give to me when I qualify to start receiving SS benefits. And even if I couldn't, it's money that *I* earned, and the government has no place telling me they can better spend my money for me.

I'm an atheist republican, and can say that it's not a matter of not wanting to better their fellow man, it's a matter of bettering yourself, just as your fellow man should do FOR HIMSELF. Donating to charity voluntarily is great, but forced 'donation' via taxation to 'better' your less motivated fellow man in the form of handouts and entitlements is just plain fucked up and goes against the American Dream that Obama claims his plan would actually promote.

Submission + - GOP Chairman Trying to Bar Ron Paul

Hubbell writes: "Saul Anuzis, Chairman of GOP in Michigan is starting a petition to bar Ron Paul from future GOP debates "because of remarks the Texas congressman made that suggested the Sept. 11 attacks were the fault of U.S. foreign policy.""
