After 2 years at Oak Ridge I applied for and was accepted to Med School. Not much math and very little hard science in medicine unless you are in pure research. If you don't use it you loose it.
I am the computer guru for family and friends but not much math there either.
Why would I want to re learn it when it is of no use to me? By forgetting I mean the specific equations and applications, like Maxwell transformations, the atomic weight of Aluminum, the valence states of Fe, etc. I probably do retain some of the concepts that make me better understand the universe.
At age 64 I do try to learn new things such as Linux which led me here. Although my tech skills don't match the average /. reader, /. is a great place to keep up on that part of my life that has been partially abandoned.
