Habit... I'm from California and we pronounce nuclear very slightly differently than do people on the east coast. And if you say nuclear the way we do, then they turn their heads sideways and say "what did you say?"... with a superior smirk that makes me want to take an eye out with a spoon... they think they're clever because they basically think only their pronunciation of words are valid.

Every day, in every way, I hate Humans just a little bit more.

As a result, I just say atomic. I can't be bothered to explain to those morons why their position is asinine every time they do that. I've had New Yorkers presume to do that to me several times and I can either be livid with them or not give the little robots any ammunition to script on to over the issue.

Seems like a completely reasonable position to avoid pulling one's own head off in frustration. I'm sorry you have so many arrogant idiots around you, the only consolation I can offer is that here in NZ we have more angry SJW idiots so we're no better off. :)

Around here, the word 'nuclear' (which we pronounce "nyoo-cleer") is about as offensive to Joe Average as the word 'nigger' because we are all so intellectual we just *know* that nuclear=bad because atoms and stuff.

Thanks for taking the time to explain, it's always interesting to learn another person's reasoning.

No, APK, these are not karma-farming or sockpuppet accounts, these are actual people asking you to piss off and leave us all alone.

The people modding you down are not morons; instead they are normal people living in hope that one day you will understand that modding you down is not a call to action for you to step up your antisocial behaviour.

The people who respond to you with annoyance do so because they're trying to have a discussion but have found themselves interrupted by a childish and off-topic rant. After a while people learn who tends to add to a discussion and who does not. Theirs is a genuine expression of disgust at the actions of a person who lowers the signal:noise ratio on this site.

Don't respond to people with the arguments of a 12-year old ("It's better than anything you've ever done"). Consider that their annoyance at your behaviour may be entirely reasonable.

If you don't like that, either go away - please - or join the discussion. Don't spam us, don't crap-flood us, join the discussion! Look at how other people tend to post and you'll get an idea of what is expected if you are to join in. Go look at your carefully-curated list of up-mods and figure out what is common about them, then drop any post about the hosts file right on the floor. Show us you're more than a one-trick pony. Don't tell us how impressed with yourself you are, nobody wants to hear it.

TL;DR: Don't have any expectations of being shown respect if you behave like a troll.

You're right, the best thing for black people would be to replace otherwise functional employees with people who didn't make the grade but happen to be black.

I love the way you "Diversity, Diversity" types are actually incredibly condescending and racist. Perhaps that's why you types perceive "racism" in nearly everything.

Fair enough, although your position wasn't especially clear from your first post. :)

I advise that everyone ignore business journalism completely.

Now that's advice I can get behind.

Calling it an apology legitimises the fact they Google was forced to crawl on its belly by the PC brigade. This was a software glitch, nothing more, but the squealies will never miss an opportunity to vilify another person or group.

This time it fell neatly into their laps, a gift to the it-is-my-right-to-not-be-offended-by-anything-ever crowd who always seem to be on the lookout for something to take offense to.
