Comment story arc and compelling narrative (Score 1) 439

I vastly prefer single player games. I'm most fond of RPG's and it is a compelling narrative that draws me into a game. I want well-developed, believable characters. I want to be the protagonist that the story centers on. I want to be the big hero that shapes the world around him. That isn't really something that can be done well with multiplayer games. I have no interest in playing games against nameless 14 year olds who practice 21 hours a day. Give me Dragon Age or Mass Effect any day of the week.

Submission + - A killer Internet connection for mom

Rurouni_Jaden writes: 75-year old woman given killer Internet connection from her son. Lothberg's 40 gigabits-per-second fiber-optic connection in Karlstad is believed to be the fastest residential uplink in the world, Karlstad city officials said. In less than 2 seconds, Lothberg can download a full-length movie on her home computer — many thousand times faster than most residential connections, said Hafsteinn Jonsson, head of the Karlstad city network unit. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19832184/

Comment god I hope they settle that lawsuit in time (Score 4, Interesting) 459

I'm still clinging to the hopes that Peter Jackson's lawsuit will be settled in time for him to take the helm. My wife's idea for how to address the different tones of the two movies (the LOTR being dark and adult and the Hobbit being more for kids) by having the entire movie be the tale as told by Bilbo. He would dismiss the dwarves as bumbling dolts that he constantly had to rescue without it conflicting with everyone seeing dwarves as solid combatants in the trilogy.

and George Lucas??? for real? if he had directed the LOTR trilogy we'd have a goofy and annoying Gollum/Jar-Jar character accidentally kick the One Ring into the volcano to save the day.
