Comment Re:Where do I sign up? (Score 1) 327

Oh tell me about it. I was a state employee not once but twice. In both cases I saw horse trades that made it hellish for everyone.

For example - I had an Admin Director yelling at me about something SHE didn't do. That was when I knew - no more state employment unless I'm REALLY high up and can tell people to fuck off.

Well - we know in the EPA some employees are smearing shit on the walls for kicks. So couple this with the USPTO and you can pretty much assure that almost every public agency you've listed is goofing off pretty often. It's a wonder anything ever gets done. And ObDisclaimer: I'm kind of sort of on a contract that one of the players is the VA.

We sent them something for evaluation three weeks ago and they haven't looked at it yet.

And about a decade ago I worked with the CJIS folks in Clarksburg. Not the brightest bulbs or sharpes crayons let me tell you.

Well I have a van dyke but no suspenders. I try to keep it as casual as I can.

That being said the modern languages like Java do much better at memory management than C or C++ ever did. So it's all academic - if you can program you can program. The key thing to look for in a good programmer is a problem solver. That problem solver has the ability to see a huge problem, break it down into functional groups and then code the hell out of it.

Yes indeed. The biggest road block to autonomous vehicles is liability law. Who is liable when the car drives itself. To me it is clear, it's the manufacturer that becomes liable.

But once the politicians get their heads out of their asses we can all enjoy extra-curricular activities in a car that we never could before. Sleeping is one. Hell, I coudl get in the car, kick the seats back, put on some music and go to sleep. Wake up and you're at your destination. Or you could pass the hours in sexual pursuits. It's all up to you.

All first responders from cops to firefighters all carry Naloxone for heroin overdose.

Which is proactive in my opinion. But the problem exists even here. We've had a number of heroin overdoses the last few years that resulted in death. Now that there's a treatment available people no longer need to fear the first responders so much.

Why - we had our seismic events millions of years ago. That's why. Big old mountains to my north and the city I live in is comprised of many hills.

On occasion we do get little 2-4 range tremblors though. Back in 2011 or so we were in the office and all felt a swaying sensation. We all noticed but after noticing just went back to what we were doing.
