Sheesh a lot of them have already done this...it is called the military. Would I mind going out for a drill weekend once a month? Nope because you know our government would end up paying everyone for the weekend drill like they do the national guard. Hey drill, shoot (free bullets because it is training) and get paid for a fun weekend. As for your MADD comment, I cant find anywhere in the constitution where the right to drive and drink is guaranteed.

Submission + - Animated Rant about Windows 8 from former tech journalist. (youtube.com)

Funksaw writes: "Back in 2007, I wrote three articles on Ubuntu 6, MacOSX 10.4, and Windows Vista which were all featured on Slashdot. Now, with the release of Windows 8, I took a different tactic and produced an animated video. Those expecting me to bust out the performance tests and in-depth use of the OS are going to be dissapointed. Whilt that was my intention coming into the project, I couldn't even use Windows 8 long enough to get to the in-depth technical tests. In my opinion, Windows 8 is so horribly broken that it should be recalled."

It isnt destroying the first amendment. I defend their right to speech but I dont have to like it, embrace it or tolerate it. I have stood the wall against these scum bag inbred idiots when they decided to picket a military funeral. Took all of 7 hours to get the word spread and we had hundreds lining up to shield the family from these "people" Free speech doesnt give you the right to try and have people attack you so you can then sue to help fund your "church". Speaking of which, wonder if they are all paying their taxes or are they shielding it because it is a "church".

A big company might not care, but a personal human being can hold a grudge forever. I know I would. This foreman tried to slip one by and now has been caught by the pure luck of the story of two star-crossed lawyers.

Not to mention his going to the media afterwards and talking about how he screwed the verdict.

So in your opinion the Jury Foreman was right to with hold the fact that he was involved in other lawsuits, including one against Samsung where he LOST the verdict. It is ok in your world when the Judge asks you to disclose ALL litigation to with hold the one important one against the defendant.

What about France, Portugal, Belgium, UK, and on and on that just decided to carve up land and people and force them to like it?? This part of history is ok with you?? What about when the Soviets went into Afghanistan and set up a puppet regime, was that ok too with you?? What people are trying to point out is that , yes America was in the wrong, but we were far from being the only party to this. Oh, by the way who was it that freed Europe, then forgave the debt owed, and rebuilt the shattered economies?? Anyone?? See how short memories can be, even with the internet at your finger tips.

Submission + - What causes degradation of wireless signals over time? 4

acer123 writes: Lately I have replaced several home wireless routers because the signal strength has been found to be degraded. These devices, when new (2+ years ago) would cover an entire house. Over the years, the strength seems to decrease to a point where it might only cover one or two rooms. Of the three that I have replaced for friends, I have not found a common brand, age, etc. It just seems that after time, the signal strength decreases. I know that routers are cheap and easy to replace but I'm curious what actually causes this. I would have assumed that the components would either work or not work; we would either have a full signal or have no signal. I am not an electrical engineer and I can't find the answer online so I'm reaching out to you.

Can someone explain how a transmitter can /slowly/ go bad?

Submission + - US vs. UK: Free speech vs. fair speech, who's right? (cbsnews.com)

An anonymous reader writes: China has the "Great Firewall." Russia just jailed a band for anti-religious songs. The UK jailed a man for an "offensive" Facebook status, while the US has the Westboro Baptist Church that are free to spew out vile, anti-everything hatred. Where's the balance? Between the U.S., Russia, China, and the U.K, which country has freedom of speech laws right?
