Remember the movie wall-e? All those fat people on the ship, we're going to end up like them if we don't tackle the root problem. A cure for type II diabetes is great and all, but it does nothing to solve the root problem(s).

You cannot serve warrents to search property in other countries.

It doesn't matter where the property is located, the company is incorporated here and in doing so has submitted to the jurisdiction of the court. The court has personal jurisdiction over the company. If you don't like it then move the company out of the court's jurisdiction. This is law 101. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

rriegs writes: The popular DistroWatch Linux and BSD distribution tracking site has had its .com domain name suspended as a result of unspecified issues with its domain registrar, Doteasy. Founder Ladislav Bodnar reports:

As many of you noticed, the distrowatch.com domain name was suspended by the domain's registrar, Doteasy, last Sunday. I don't want to go into details about what exactly happened as it's a long and boring story. Suffice to say that I feel grossly aggrieved by the series of greedy and even malicious actions taken by Doteasy and as soon as I get this sorted out, I will be looking into transferring the distrowatch.com domain name to another registrar.

DistroWatch continues operations at its alternate domain name, distrowatch.org. Can anyone recommend a suitable, Linux- and BSD-friendly domain registrar to help get DistroWatch back online under its chosen URL?

An anonymous reader writes: Today, CentOS project unveiled CentOS Linux 7 for 64 bit x86 compatible machines. CentOS conforms fully with Red Hat's redistribution policy and aims to have full functional compatibility with the upstream product released in last month. The new version includes systemd, firewalld, GRUB2, LXC, docker, xfs instead of ext4 filesystem by default. The Linux kernel updated to 3.10.0, support for Linux Containers, 3d graphics drivers out of the box, OpenJDK 7, support for 40G Ethernet cards, installations in UEFI secure Boot mode on compatible hardware and more. nbritton writes: The CentOS Project is pleased to announce the immediate availability of CentOS 7 for x86_64, including images for docker, and various cloud providers. There are many fundamental changes in this release, compared to previous releases of CentOS. Notably the inclusion of Linux kernel 3.10, SystemD, Gnome3, and a default filesystem of XFS. it's really astonishing, to see AMD still afloat.

No, I think Intel keeps them around to get around anti-trust regulators. AMD should get into more consumer markets. For instance, I use Macs, but I'd like to give AMD some of my money so they can keep the competition up with Intel, because ultimately this will mean better Intel chips for my Mac.

Why does everyone overlook the fact that the eye is a device that leverages quantum mechanics? The simple fact that we can observe the electromagnetic spectrum is proof of this. By extension, it would be reasonable to conclude that the brain also leverages quantum mechanics.

Apple couldn't care less about headphones, they want the digital streaming rights that Beats Music has so they can integrate a subscription service into iTunes. I wouldn't be surprised if apple spins off headphone business after it incorporates their marketing and sales staff into the apple fold. There is no way I see a beats logo showing up on apple hardware.

Like maybe record labels have been trying to bend Apple over a barrel when they ask for streaming rights, and in this deal, Apple acquires the streaming rights that Beats had, thereby side-stepping the deal.

Yes. You hit the nail on its head. Beats music is a direct derivative of MOG, and they had a 16 million track music catalog. Apple is already in the music on demand business and subscription music service is the next logical evolution. This subscription service will be wholly incorporated into iTunes, and $10/mo will get you access to 16 million iTunes tracks. You'll of course still have the option to buy the track, but who would what to do that? The record label's royalties are going to be significantly impacted. This was a smart move by Apple, they've just cornered the online music market for the next decade.
