Find someone who understands your business and how they can develop it and 'move it forward'.

Yes that is pretty much spot on. A few years back this happened in the UK, but I am struggling to find a successful prosecution.
I received a 'warning' email, it simply showed my IP address and the name of a torrent file.

There is no unbiased audit process. There is no verification by a third party.
So who do you trust to verify the code you run?
Are we on the slide down now? Are we past our prime? Can we recover?
The answer is yes - What has America got that the world needs? Your only export seems to be 'Entertainment' and Arms/Wars - which seem to be one and the same....
The only surefire way to block it would be to blacklist all connections to any Facebook domains - and the domains of any other tracking services that deploy similar systems in the future.

If Android sends this data home a log could be created.
Cell phone companies could easily create a log of each cell tower you connect to - how often does your GSM phone contact a cell tower letting it know where it is? Maybe not accurate but depends on what you want this data for...
