Except for the decline in mass transit itself. It starts by eliminating Sunday service, then nights, then Saturday evenings, then Saturday service at all in the outskirts, and you end up getting one bus an hour if you're lucky.

Why? what justification do you have for this?

Seriously? Don't tell me you're one of those VHEMT guys. Perhaps the goal of preventing human extinction is the one arbitrary priority, the one "unicorn in the garden", as a starting point to make atheism practical.

Sure, the system you've devised might be a reasonable and logical way to achieve the goals you intend.. but why do you have those goals? why are those goals "right"?

Start from logic and add the axiom "Humankind ought to continue to exist." If you think this goal isn't right, feel free to remove yourself. Otherwise, you can continue by answering questions like this: Does the benefit to humankind of not living in fear of being murdered outweigh the benefit to humankind of having the freedom to murder someone? If so, create a framework within society to deter murder.

How does the existence of radium products grant a power to the Federal Givernment? [sic]

I agree with you that it doesn't. But you could take the Commerce Clause, the DC Clause, or the Army Clause, and any one of those three would gave the Congress power to create the FDA. The Congress doesn't want unsafe drugs to cross state lines, be sold in Washington, or be used to treat service members.

To the extent that "Jupiter" is a corruption of "YHWH Pater", or Jehovah the Father, I do believe in Jupiter. All the rest of the Roman gods are made up.

have you read the bible lately? He does really love the commanding people to maim and slaughter other people for what I can only assume is for his personal entertainment

As I understand the Christian position as described in the Bible, the suffering that humankind experiences under this system of things exists to teach Satan a lesson. Satan has been using the lie "God doesn't want what's best for you and for this reason is holding back good things from you" since the days of Adam and Eve. And God has let Satan have it Satan's way for a few thousand years in order to show that many people will realize how self-destructive Satan's system is and follow God nevertheless. I'm not one of Jehovah's Witnesses, but I found their article on why God continues to allow suffering interesting.

Comment Copyresponsibility (Score 1) 92

My point is that if something isn't available even on DVD decades later, it definitely won't be available on streaming. Rights come with responsibilities, and some people who otherwise obey copyright law might end up having to pirate in cases where a copyright owner violates its "copyresponsibility". If a film or TV series still lacks a home video release years after its theatrical or broadcast run, I guess some people who pirate it feel an other-than-legal justification that when a copyright owner acts like the proverbial dog in the manger, copyright is failing its intended purpose "to promote the progress of science and useful arts".

That depends on how expensive and how bulky the clip-on Bluetooth game controller is. Not a lot of classic console games work well with just an on-screen gamepad. Or has there been some sort of recent innovation in touch input processing that makes games like Mega Man and Castlevania, which need precision movement, jumping, and attacking controls, practical with just a flat sheet of glass?
