If are not happy with the way this is being handled. And you live in the UK. You can always write to your MP.
there is a great website:
Which makes it really easy. Simply enter your post code, select your MP, then write them an email.
I've had positive results doing this in the past. If enough people agree then your MP will take notice.
It has a "grid road system" which is vaguely grid like, and names it's roads things like H and V.. but doesn't actually line up with North South East West which makes it harder to spot
There is a reasonable picture illustrating it on this page here:
http://www.ontic.net/mk/net.htm
Which took me a while to find on google, and I personally find yellow on black hard to read, but at least it gives a good overview of the road system.
I also don't get why people don't like MK, I lived there for ages and loved it, rush hour traffic = taking 5-10 minutes longer to get across the city. Fast roads meaning you can cross the city very quickly. Great cycle paths (separated from road traffic) meaning you can cycle most places very easily. Lots of parks and open spaces. Nothing not to like tbh
As for navigating you quickly get used to it, certainly way better than trying to navigate around somewhere like Southampton.
