techtakeaway writes: "The forthcoming Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA4) game is a very eagerly awaited next-generation title from Rockstar Games. It is the latest in a long line of GTA games dating back to 1997 when the original top-down view game was released, to GTA3 the first to use the new third & first person views in 2001, through to Vice City & San Andreas.

One thing we do know is that GTA4 is going to use the same Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE) graphics engine that Rockstar have developed for their next-gen debut title, Table Tennis. Offering incredible realism and depth only achievable on the next-generation Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3 consoles. In a recent interview about Table Tennis, Rockstar reps explained that the game was running on the RAGE engine and that "This is the graphics technology gamers are to expect from future Rockstar games, including the next GTA."

He first blogged it at http://explabs.blogspot.com/ and story was subsequently picked up at http://blog.washingtonpost.com/securityfix/2007/04 /virus_writers_taint_google_ad.html and http://blogs.pcworld.com/staffblog/archives/004213 .html Other interesting issues: When you run your mouse over a sponsor link, the true destination of that link is masked from the user. In this case, the criminal linked to an exploitive web site that then re-directed the user to a trusted site. Although Google could conceivably reveal the intermediate destination of the hyperlink, it might freak out users who don't understand legitimate reasons to first link to a marketing analytics app, for example, before re-directing to the destination. What's to stop any cyber criminal with a credit card from opening an Adwords account and 10 minutes later potentially reaching millions of people with malicious text ads? The threat applies to Yahoo as well. What should Google, Yahoo and other sponsored search providers do?
