So you think making it possible for bullies to determine the RL identities of their victims is going the REDUCE online abuse?
If Jackson is actually worried about racial diversity, wouldn't his proposed solution (drastically reducing the number of foreign workers by cutting H-1B visas) actually make the problem worse?
Name one other content distribution model where the content producers pay the distributors rather than the distributors paying the content producers?
That's why it was always stupide for the ISPs to stop messing with net neutrality. Once the idea someone had to pay came into it, it was inevitable that the ISPs would end up paying Netflix, not Netflix paying the ISPs.
Project overhead, even for simple projects, is so heavy that it's a wonder anyone can find the time to code, much less derive joy from it
If I was supposed to derive joy from it, I'd be paying my employer to do my job rather than the other way around. I'm being paid because I do it for their benefit, not for mine.
The problem is that while widget A and being treated as fully equivalent to widget B, it's hard to compare one line of code to another line of code from a completely different program.
If good programmer just means "spits out more lines of code than anyone else", I can write all sorts of gobbledy gook that add lots more code without really participating in the actual purpose of the program.
The article linked to originally had a picture of the tweet I mentioned, but they removed it during an update:
A Russian GRU officer had already taken credit for shooting down the plane on Twitter before it was realized the AN-26 he just shot down was a 777:
Actually, I think "I would not travel to Russia or any nation friendly with Putin" is enough without any other qualifications.
You're suprised it's illegal to steal someone's credit card information and charge things to it without permission?
Actually, one giant building requires a lot less energy to cool than an equal volume of multiple tiny buildings, because the big building has much less surface area / volume and thus transfers heat more slowly.
Maybe they'll just adapt so that they can survive being run over. In a million years, the common grey squirrel will look like a furry flounder.
Regulatory Capture results in regulators being captured.
Yes, but they don't offer links to this particular article, so what it doesn't matter what the regulator status of said article is. It's like complaining Nokia isn't hiring enough meat inspectors for their cellphone plants.
If you are a company that offers something
Except in this case it's a company that doesn't offer something.
