I like Vim because it integrates well with Linux, Solaris and Windows environments and has great syntax highlighting (by default!) for languages associated with the Cadence IC design tools we use at work (i.e. Skill and DIVA).
On *nix systems I like to compile it myself using Motif. Gives a common appearance across all the systems I use that resembles the Windows GUI.

We use this at work. We have a collection of fast servers which run complex semiconductor simulation jobs that can take days to complete. The engineers start these in an NX session then detach. They can subsequently re-attach to check the progress of this work from any site or by connecting into the company network from home via VPN. The performance of NX is acceptable for the graphical applications which display and manipulate the data.

Me too. I am baffled that this seems not to be the norm for right handed people. It is not as if holding a phone to your ear requires a lot of manual dexterity. The other things I might be doing whilst on the phone (taking notes, clicking a mouse, peeling a banana, cooking dinner) do so I always hold my phone in my left hand.

As modern DRM schemes get more annoying and invasive, the common wisdom is to vote with your wallet and avoid supporting developers and publishers who include such schemes with their games. Or, if you simply must play it, wait a while until outcry and complaints have caused the DRM restrictions to be loosened. But will any of that make game creators rethink their stance? An article at CNet argues that gamers are, in general, an impatient bunch, and that trait combined with the nature of the games industry means that progress fighting DRM will be slow or nonexistent. Quoting:
"Increasingly so, the joke seems to be on the customers who end up buying this software when it first comes out. A simple look back at some controversial titles has shown us that after the initial sales come, the publisher later removes the vast majority of the DRM, leaving gamers to enjoy the software with fewer restrictions. ... Early sales are often one of the big quantifiers in whether a studio will start working on a sequel, and if everyone were to wait to buy games once they hit the bargain price, publishers would simply stop making PC versions. My Centro will likely be replaced by either a Palm Pre or something running Android. I am leaning towards the latter as I am now hosting my domain on Google's servers. It seems likely there will be a number of interesting Android devices from many manufacturers hitting stores this year.
The Pre is Palm's last throw of the dice and if it doesn't work out you are left with fancy, expensive kit and no company to support it.
