Don't discount the misplaced priorities of the masses.
Prhaps they don't affect change at the ballot box, but the thongs that really matter to them can drive them into a frenzy.
At least it's not Zombies. In fact, if you can survive the initial purge while a great percentage of survivors fight (and die) over the food & water they can find on the ground, you will stand a pretty good chance of eventually returning to civilized living.
As sad an advantage as this may seem to be, the governors will be working overtime to get back in contact with surviving taxpayers.
I love the quote, "Five hundred kilometres is pretty much as far as a normal person would want to drive in a single day." Oh, man, I've driven further to see a live show, and driven back essentially the next day
Indeed. Aren't things in Australia nearly as spread out as they are here? 300 miles is nothing. 300 miles won't even get you from Las Vegas to San Diego. I've done that as a same-day round trip. I've driven from Las Vegas to Denver in one day. 770 miles makes for a long day behind the wheel, but it's doable. You can cover 600 miles in 8 hours at 75 mph.
I disagree. If you can hold down a professional job in America, you should get a green card (after only a criminal background check). If you can hold down any job in America, you should get a work visa (after only a criminal background check). The only way in which legal immigration can be bad for us is when people come here without jobs to consume federal programs. Have a job? Welcome aboard!
If native population were growing fast, it might be a different story, but since native population is shrinking (birth rate below replacement rate), we need people, those with professional skills preferred.
That's how we ended up battling superior A6M Zero's with technically inferior F-4F Wildcat's during the first years of WWII.
These scientist need to understand that the people writing the checks get to make the priorities. If they don't like it, get elected and change it or find someone with money that agrees with them. Being a "Scientist" does not mean you have some moral superiority over others concerning what tax dollars are spent on.
Given the trucking industry's current interest in aerodynamic additions that are not necessarily aesthetic,
I would say that's your target market.
Sounds like my case. Increasing couldn't get wear contacts any more without problems, hated all of the problems of glasses, was scared of the surgery... and it was just nothing. Seriously, how can instantly improved vision not be at the top of your to-do list?
So my question is: what is holding everyone else back from freeing themselves from contacts and glasses?
I don't need contacts or glasses, you insensitive cl...oh, wait.
We have always been at war with Eastasia!
The problem isn't people coming here on H1-Bs, but their difficulty in turn that into a green card. The "apprentices" would mostly stay here if they could. And does anyone really want to argue that immigration of well-educated, highly-skilled engineers is bad for America?
All the focus on the political immigration debate seems to be on low-skilled workers, and the answers aren't so easy there. But anyone who can come here and work a job that pays $100k+? Keep em coming, I say.
Only through hard work and perseverance can one truly suffer.
