Submission + - EFF, Software Freedom Law Centre help Shareaza

FrYGuY101 writes: Open-source peer-to-peer client Shareaza recently had its domain-name taken over, followed by an ongoing attempt to trademark 'Shareaza'. Recently, they announced both their plans for future development of the client (including making future versions cross-platform) as well as their plans on fighting the legal threat posed by the aptly named company attempting to hijack Shareaza: 'Discordia, LTD'.

FrYGuY101 writes: Open source Peer-to-peer client Shareaza recently lost its website to a company, appropriately called Discordia Ltd. After closely recreating the look of the old Shareaza website, they've since gone one step further and have filed for a trademark for "Shareaza". The problem? The old Shareaza is still around.
