I've been using these for years -- they meet all your criteria, the ink lasts a long time, dries quickly, doesn't readily smear... Two drawbacks: people love them and keep stealing mine, and the clip is weak so I keep breaking them off. Nothing a little tape can't fix! EFF Sues to Block New Internet Sex-Offender Law 305

Bobfrankly1 writes "The EFF sued to block portions of the approved Prop 35 today. Prop 35 requires sex offenders (including indecent exposure and non-internet offenses) to provide all of their online aliases to law enforcement. This would include e-mail addresses, screen and user names, and other identifiers used on the internet. The heart of the matter as the EFF sees it, would be not only the chilling effect it would have on free speech, but also the propensity of these kind of laws to be applied to other (non-sex offending) people as well."

Comment Why did the computer programming classes go away? (Score 1) 632

I'm hearing this a lot from a lot of the people about my age (early 30's) who graduated high school in the mid-90s. In elementary school in the 80's there was a lot more interest in teaching programming (BASIC, LOGO, HyperCard, etc.), but then as the 90's went on "computer classes" became dumbed down to the point where they were just teaching typing and office software, and programming was an elective if it was even offered at all. This was my experience in school. Why do you think this was? Was it because schools wanted to churn out secretaries, because Microsoft and Apple stopped bundling free programming software (GW-BASIC, HyperCard, etc.) with their operating systems, because the computer market was heading more towards "information appliances" than "general-purpose computers", or because there just weren't enough teachers or enough demand for programming classes?

Comment MULTIPLE Sign-On (Score 1) 446

I dislike single sign-on because there are services for which I want multiple accounts. If those services don't let me make a l/p with them, I have to log in and out of multiple facebook or gmail accounts to make it happen, which disrupts all my other browsing activities.

If there's a site where I want a business persona and a party persona, I should be able to just make two accounts and call it a day.

Oh, never mind. I just saw the threat of violence at the end; I see logic was not your goal, nor indeed within your approach :)
