Stop trolling pro troll. I know that you know that had Google joined with Microsoft to purchase the patents under the conditions Microsoft had layed out it would not have stopped Microsoft from attacking Google's partners HTC, Samsung, Motorola at the time and others using Android with these same patents. And slinging around the talking points of Microsoft does nothing for your credibility on this matter.

THIS!!! exactly this. Sony used to be a pro-technology company until they got into the content business and now have become one of the biggest assholes. I went from owning exlusively Sony products to running far far away from anything Sony because of their behavior once they got into the content business. Will not purchase or reccomend Sony products until they leave that business. They are one of the MPAA and RIAA biggest members.

First of all I'm not "Left WIng" Im as pro second ammendment as they come. SO you have no clue who I am. Your Limbaugh/Culter bubble does not allow you to see rationally. You only see in black and white. Liberal and Conservatives. Stuck in the talk radio Matrix without any clue of reality. I never claimed to be better than anyone.

Mankind not changing significantly recently has nothing to do with evolution being fake.

Because people are not paranoid like you doesn't mean they are "ultra-left wing" LOL

Also I do agree with you in your previous post about the overreactions of the zero-tolerance-lets-not-think croud. Many examples of that such as the kid who shows up to school with plastic knives in the back of his moms car. She purchased the knives and forgot them in the car. THe kid drives car to school. Expelled. And yes that is moronic.

There actually is valid reason to assess people's mental capacity and mental state though. A lot of the centrists and right wingers are agreeing that maybe it would make sense to keep crazy people from acquiring weapons.

The problem is though, as you hint, that left wingers are going to define "crazy". Already we see children being taken into custody for the act of play acting in schools.

Bite a pop-tart into the shape of a gun, and school officials call in the cops. Imagine that. Point a finger and say "POW", and you're marked for life as a crazy person prone to violence.

I suppose that some liberal will read your post, and mine, and be begging for the opportunity to drag us onto an analyst's couch.

its amazing to see someone living in the Hannity/Limbaugh/Fox/Culter bubble on Slashdot. Hey did you know that Evolution is real and the world is not 6000 years old?

What made McCarthyism bad not the hunt for subversives per se, it was tossing out the constitution in the hunt for subversives.

Gee, now why does that sound so familiar?

It's deja vu all over again.

Those who fail to learn from history...

It sounds familiar because your hero Michelle Bachman was recently calling for an investigation of people in congress who are not "American enough" So yeah... Deja Vu.

Submission + - The Patent Problem Is Bigger Than Trolls

Bob9113 writes: Ars Technica reports the following: "Canada-based telecom Nortel went bankrupt in 2009 and sold its biggest asset--a portfolio of more than 6,000 patents covering 4G wireless innovations and a range of technologies--at an auction in 2011. Google bid for the patents, but didn't get them. Instead, they went to a group of competitors--Microsoft, Apple, RIM, Ericsson, and Sony--operating under the name "Rockstar Bidco." The companies together bid the shocking sum of $4.5 billion. This afternoon, that stockpile was finally used for what pretty much everyone suspected it would be used for--launching an all-out patent attack on Google and Android. The smartphone patent wars have been underway for a few years now, and the eight lawsuits filed in federal court today by Rockstar Consortium mean that the conflict just hit DEFCON 1."

Submission + - Patent war goes nuclear: Microsoft, Apple-owned "Rockstar" sues Google (arstechnica.com)

GODISNOWHERE writes: So this is what "thermonuclear war" looks like.
The complaint against Google involves six patents, all from the same patent "family." They're all titled "associative search engine," and list Richard Skillen and Prescott Livermore as inventors. The patents describe "an advertisment machine which provides advertisements to a user searching for desired information within a data network.

MOD this up! Couldnt have said it better. MS forcing HTC to pay upwards of $5 per device sold over sofware patents in Linux else see them in court is partially what got HTC in the situation they are in now. Now why would HTC play ball unless MS offers to pay them all the money lost from that Linux License and stop charging them that extortion fee.
