Being the effective owners of said parking spots, the city has the right to determine who can use the public spots, not some phone app. Just as they can mark whole stretches of street as no parking or parking with time limits or other rules.

If the app makers believe they have the legal right to continue operating they can sue to force the city to allow use of their app.

How do they know you're not driving your family to the airport for a fee? Or yourself for that matter.
Obviously they can't take your word for it, you could be in collusion with yourself in a conspiracy to defraud the airport and cab drivers.

No, best thing to do is make it completely illegal for someone to drive to the airport or anywhere within a 4 hour walking distance without a commercial license.

Dear dog I hope not. If this makes the immune system forget allergies then it also forgets all the thousands of strains of bacteria and virus you have been exposed to. All your immunizations, chicken pox, colds, flu, mono, ect...
A newborn would have a better immune system than a clean slate.

Plus you would have a much greater chance of becoming allergic to new stuff.
Would suck to get rid of a minor hayfever just to become allergic to all nuts.

The DS and its redesigns (DSlite and DSi) sold over 270 million units in 7 years before being succeeded by the 3DS, while the PSP and its redesigns sold 80 million in 10 years.

No contest there, EA and the like didn't want to waste their time on a relatively tiny userbase.
Piracy is just a handy scapegoat for both lawmakers and sony. Mainly they just didn't want to piss sony off by making it public they think the PSP is a failure not worth developing for.

I'd have to agree with that 95% part. Given the opportunity any kids can learn the basics of a command line interface once they start to learn to read, and earlier with a GUI. My 6 year old loves playing on computers.
Heck my 18 month has figured out how to unlock my phone and loves seeing the screen change when she pushes buttons. That's a fascination that will bloom into true geekdom as she grows.
