One of the reason people developed for iOS first was the platform had users who on average had higher incomes and spent more money on apps. So if you were trying to develop an application to sell it was more likely to show a return. Also there is more piracy of apps on Android.

Worse is some of them are selling their services as a "techie" to normal people.

I talked to an auto parts store a couple weeks back replacing a POS PC and it couldn't get online, but the other machine in the store could, and they were calling us (the ISP) about the issue. They were both hardwired to a router (that was not supplied by us) and the store's third-party tech who installed the computer was there. He didn't know how to check an IP address and hadn't even looked at the router itself. He'd just connected the wires from the old computer they replaced to the new one and expected it to work.

No, I don't think a NUC is overkill for HTPC. The only reason a Rpi works for HD is because of hardware acceleration for video playback. But throw it a file in a format that doesn't meet the qualifications for acceleration and pbbbbbt! So, no 10-bit h264 or HEVC, let alone if you want to do rendering of subtitles, filtering, or chroma upscaling to improve the picture quality of normal 4:2:0 video.

While the width/depth of the NUC/Brix machines are great, I'd rather they make one with more vertical volume -- to allow for a larger and much quieter cooling solution. Like a cube form factor that's still smaller than a CoolerMaster Elite 110 case.

I remember what they were doing is pushing HTML5 as a way to deliver rich content that oftentimes was not supported on $favoriteOSSplatform due to reliance on proprietary plugins. HTML was supposed to help maintain the (original) spirit of the Internet as a platform-agnostic information source.

They forgot that once they get access to the content, those same companies now also have a way of delivering marketing content to the audience.

That whooshing noise is you missing the point. The parents shouldn't have to work three jobs to put food on the table. Their absence in their children's lives is the result of the Haves screwing the Have-Nots on a living wage. Their kids don't have the guidance they need to help succeed in school, and can't compete in the real world -- which is already stacked against them when you have to have a $40,000 college diploma to get any decent job at all. Wonder if the three-job parents have money for their kids to go to college -- probably not. The whole thing is a cycle that makes it impossible for people to improve their situation, or their kids'.

The final release of OSX 10.10 is considered one of the buggiest ever, and even after two maintenance updates there are still issues with wi-fi and Apple Mail, two things that are kinda important to get right the first time in today's Internet-heavy computing lifestyle.
