That is a Foundation issue, not something we at WER can do much about. I think they have spent a great deal of money and resources on the issue, but I've yet to see anything come of it, to be honest. Child rearing is probably to blame in part, if we are honest and accept that our culture still has a divide between the genders. Men tend to have a bit more free time, and perhaps that is the threshold: free time. I notice a lot of unemployed people editing, for example.

And the indy car that won the 1974 Indy 500 is just as fast but new indy cars are faster. The Boeing 707 can still fly passengers across the atlantic it is just that the 767 can fly more people cheaper.
The Mac Pro was a good deal when it came out compared to other workstations in it's class. So you will have the opertunity to buy machines for the same price that are faster. The Apple way is okay for consumer products. "Honestly I hate the imac because they traded the ability to easily upgrade the SSD for thin". It does not work IMHO for a workstation class machine.

Haswell-e does not use the same socket or chipset as Ivy-Bridge E does. It will take an completely new motherboard for the Pro to move to Haswell-E. Look now long Apple let the the old macpro sit after Intel moved to Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge.
As to Apple dying I really hope not. I love OSX and my macbook. Apples continued obsession with thin and small in markets that do not really need it is what I hate. Had Apple come out with a nice tower and simply used a standard EATX or ATX motherboard for the Pro they would have had a better product.
Of course you still have the problem with Thunderbolt. Making it both storage and a video connector is dumb. It would have been better as just a storage connector IMHO so standard video cards could be used.
BTW A thunderbolt connection is no where near as fast as a PCI3 3.0 8x or 16x slot so do not even bother with the external card argument.

You are using Z87 based motherboards and the author wants to use z97 and or x99 based motherboards. It will be a little bit of time before those chipsets are fully supported.
Everybody writes Windows drivers for their own motherboards. You have to wait for the the community to write the drivers for Linux. You other option is to look in the server/workstation space. That market uses a lot of Linux and will tell you if it supported.

Well, you did say, "Montana, Wyoming and parts of Idaho and Utah" ... which is more than Wyoming. Lots of cattle throughout those four states. Lots of agriculture in Idaho, timber in Montana. Anyway, those states together produce just under 10% of the grain and ranch output we consume - many billions per year worth. Considering the just-in-time nature of the country's food supply, loss of it would be very non-trivial. We're also talking about herd destruction, which would have a lasting impact beyond the immediate absence of what would be going to market at any given time. That sort of destruction would quite suck, and we're not even talking about the industries that are present in places like Salt Lake City. Let's hope it just doesn't happen any time soon.

Think of it this way: Imagine the entire planet heated up by 20C, we wouldn't expect to see any permanent ice outside of Antarctica. (The North Pole might get some seasonal ice, but the much warmer oceans would melt it fairly quickly.) Now, with all of the oceans that much warmer, think how much additional water vapor would make it into the atmosphere. When the additional water vapor ends up over the South Pole, it will be cold enough for it to freeze and fall as snow. As the snow accumulates, it compacts into ice and we end up with a LOT more ice at the South Pole.

So: Less ice everywhere but Antarctica due to global warming, but a lot more ice in Antarctica due to global warming.

But the point is, when there was LESS ice, it was because of global warming. Now that there is MORE ice, it's because of global warming, per the original comment I replied to.

Yes. There is less ice in some areas due to global warming and more ice in other areas due to global warming.

See, they seem to think that the first thing to go is the polar ice. That's why they keep measuring it. See, a few years ago, a lot of the ice melted, and we were told that it was because of global warming. Now the ice is back and growing, and we are told it's because of global warming.

And that is my entire point. No matter what the symptoms are, it's always a symptom of global warming.

Also, if it's colder in Antarctica and warmer in Hawaii, that's not really a sign of global warming. That's a sign of global nothing because the average temperature remains constant.
