Submission + - A Neutron Bomb would NOT Neutralize Fukushima (pesn.com)

sterlingda writes: Proposed: By detonating a 25-km radius neutron bomb at the Fukushima plant, it would turn off the nuclear reactions taking place, while also neutralizing the radiation emitting from radioactive particles that have been emitted within that radius. NASA nuclear physicist says "not". This story has spurred some very intersting dialogue that I thought the Slashdot crowd would have fun with. Who knows, maybe even something productive could come of it.

Correction. I just checked, and I have 223 groups at Yahoo!Groups.

Another thing I don't like about the new UI is that the urls for the pages are different now. That's going to take a while to get used to and to learn the new syntax.

One thing I do like about the new format is the look of the group home page. However, I can't see how to edit the backdrop image. hunt hunt.

I realize that chaning user interfaces is painful; but once you get used to the new interface, usually you prefer it over the old one.

But in this case, I must say that the new interface totally sucks.

I've been a loyal and grateful Yahoo!Group user for a good decade+, with over 100 groups I manage.

Until now, they've not changed their interface at all -- except a couple of tiny things -- for that whole time. That's one of the things I loved about them -- consistency.

I can't find stuff in the new interface. They have all kinds of links I have no use for.

The new layout is so different it's like a completely different product from a different company. As a user/group manager, It's about as radical a change as if I were an auto mechanic, and all the sudden all the cars coming in are electric cars but I only know how to work on ICEs.

By the way, I don't like their new logo either.

Comment Re:Site moving to high-traffic shortly. (PESWiki) (Score 1) 479

Here's the latest update we posted at PESWiki

So far, it seems that the test of the E-Cat went well. Around thirty scientists and engineers from around the world showed up. Among these individuals were Christos Stremmenos, who is on the board of directors of Defkalion. In addition, professors Levi and Ferrari from the University of Bologna were present at the test. Dr. Focardi also attended the test. Media representatives from NyTecnic, Radio 24, and Focus.it documented the test. They took many photos and videos that will be posted in the coming days.

On the technical side of things, it seems the E-Cat performed well. We do not have final numbers for energy in and out, but we have been told the E-Cat self sustained for four hours with no input. We were told the E-Cat itself got incredibly hot (so hot those present could not touch it), the heat exchanger worked well, a steam temperature of 110 C was recorded inside of the E-Cat, and the energy output was so much larger than the input, that there was no need to extend the length test.

What is very important is that no one has indicated the test was a failure, the results were bad, or that there was a major technical problem. From all reports, this test was a success. Of course we will have to wait until tomorrow for all of the information to be posted online, before we form a final conclusion.

If this test was as successful as it seems, this could be the dawning of a new age. Perhaps in the next few days the results of this test will wake up the dumbstream media from their slumber, and force them to admit to the world that cold fusion is a reality.

Keep checking here over the next few days for the latest news and information about the test! There is a flood of information that should be arriving over the next few days, and you can get all of the updates on this page!

Submission + - Radar Evidence of HAARP Affecting Weather (beforeitsnews.com)

In the last weekend of June, as part of an expo highlighting the life and inventions of Nikola Tesla, AV Concepts is going to help James Turner of Teslanet Entertainment Network introduce a new presentation method that has never been done before. A 2-D high-definition screen at the MGM Grand in Vegas will be the backdrop, with holographic images in front of it, interacting live with 30-40 performers on the stage. They're calling it "4-D – The next level of entertainment." This will be the first venue ever. And what better subject to do it with than the Father of the 20th and 21st centuries! A young actor posing as seeking material for a science fair project will transition from real, to holograph to 2-D, then back, as part of the 1.5-hour show. Bruce Heyning and his wife have joined the project as executive producers for the show. When are people going to wake up and kick the Orwellians out? Let's get back to the Constitutionally-mandated government -- which is what govt. officials are sworn to uphold, but which most ignore, making them liars and traitors. 9/11, which is what spurred their "mandate" to increase Big Brother snooping, was an inside job, designed to do just what they have been doing -- destroying liberty from the inside, having been given their "excuse" to do so. What thinking person can really believe that those three World Trade Center towers could have come down at near free-fall speed (actual free-fall speed in the case of Building 7 that wasn't hit by a plane) without the help of pre-placed demolition charges. It was a conspiracy, and if you keep buying into that lie (that it was just an act by foreign terrorists), you're helping them keep their control over you and us. Big Brother is the terrorist. The ones calling for the war on terror are the terrorists. Get them out. And the government insiders are just puppets for the real criminals calling the shots here, which include the huge banks.

Submission + - Gulf Loop Current Stalled (pesn.com)

An anonymous reader writes: Oceanographic satellite data now shows that as of July 28, the Loop Current in the Gulf of Mexico has stalled as a consequence of the BP oil spill disaster. This according to Dr. Gianluigi Zangari, an Italian theoretical physicist, and major complex and chaotic systems analyst at the Frascati National Laboratories in Italy. He further notes that the effects of this stall have also begun to spread to the Gulf Stream. This is because the Loop Current is a crucial element of the Gulf Stream itself and why it is commonly referred to as the “main engine” of the Stream. The concern now, is whether or not natural processes can re-establish the stalled Loop Current. If not, we could begin to see global crop failures as early as 2011. Shadows of The Day After Tomorrow.

Submission + - Hubble accuracy surpassed by earthbound telescope (arizona.edu)

randuev writes: High-speed adaptive optics system helped Large Binocular Telescope (on earth) to beat accuracy of Hubble Telescope (space) observations.

"A special sensor detects atmospheric distortions in real time and controls the mirror to adjust its position to compensate, effectively canceling out the blurring. The mirror can make adjustments every one-thousandth of a second, with accuracy to better than ten nanometers (a nanometer is one millionth the size of a millimeter)."

Now, that's what I call real-time. This nifty trick multiplied Strehl ratio (optical quality) of LBT by about 80 times to unprecedented Rayleigh limit. Hope we'll see more space around us in higher resolution on Google Sky.
