I bought a Dell laptop (Precision M3800) last week from the Dell business laptop dept. The sales guys assumed I'd want Win7 and the laptop (by default) comes with Win7 installed. When I asked about that, they said that it "technically included Windows 8 media" but that everybody wants one running Win7.

I find this quit interesting as Win7 has officially gone EOL. Personally, I plan on running Fedora Linux, but still....

Android is the antithesis of privacy. You might as well be looking for GNU/OS X.

Androids entire existence is to gather your private info for Google. There is literally no other reason ite exists. If your not ok with that, you should probably start looking for alternatives.

You'll be more likely to use lava to chill your drinks than get privacy from Android.

Nah, when a citizen gets murdered, there's supposed to be a trial.

Okay. You're alleging racist treatments of minorities based on prosecutors failing to indict cops who kill black people.

There's supposed to get a trial when a prosecutor thinks that he can convict the guy of some crime. "Police officer shoots random innocent in what appears to be a tragic accident possibly involving negligence" is apparently not one of those cases, for some reason or another -- probably the cozy relationship between prosecutors and the police, which is dubious enough.

But I want to contend that it's not really racist: they really wouldn't hold a trial in a similar case if the guy shot was white, and if you keep playing at it for racial reasons you will fail to effect meaningful policy changes that will address the issue, which would be more unfortunate for minorities than it would for me or most Slashdot readers (because we're demographically less likely to come into contact with law enforcement, in part because we're fancy computer programmer types who make a lot of money and can afford to live in neighborhoods which aren't riddled with crime).

Not everyone wants to follow you're ridiculous upgrade cycle. Example: I like Google Chrome, I won't use it because its a pain in the ass to stop it from auto-updating, and if you stop it once, a month later it randomly starts upgrading itself again.

Why does Google think what its doing is any better than the people who sell exploits on the black market? They aren't asking for cash directly for them, but they are trying to hurt the competition.

Issue #128 might not even be a bug depending on your perspective, as noted in the report! The one that is 'the more serious of the two', WTF? And its not like MS hasn't patched it ... they've created a patch, that caused some compatibility issues so they delayed the patch so the compat issues can be resolved ... So Google publishes the exploit code just to be dicks about it.

The less serious ... lets a user view another users power control settings ... Seriously?

This is just Google mud slinging. Its starting to look more like Google is a politician running for elected office than being a good citizen.

Google: You're starting to look like an even bigger douche than Microsoft.

Only an idiot would discount what your parent tells you. Of course, this is a given for most people above the age of 12 and below, say 20 something. But if you are over thirty and don't take advantage of your parents experiences and knowledge, you are a complete moron.
