so that's not really a thing to worry. besides, if it happens, he can make a blog post about it on some blog he has ads on and get 20 million hits as he would be the first.

he could turn card encryption on too in whatever os he is using it on, which would make the sd firmware inserting files into the filesystem or altering them even more unlikely.

how do you think the targets in Jemen etc are chosen? based on international threat? hah, it's based on the threat to the guys USA is giving money to since it's their word usually that whoever in the ambulance, cab or whatever is a bad guy and anyone who comes near the car after it has been hellfired is a bad guy too. this way, it's not said random governments fault and they get rid of some opposition as random collateral damage that they can use to boost up the need for harder military rule in their country(all the while working to ensure continuation of such strikes in their country).

but yeah, suing countries? good luck with that. if that were possible then there's thousands of people with claims from the USA strikes - IN AREAS NOT IN STATE OF WAR, from collateral damage from strikes to organizations usa is not in war with or hasn't had tried to even contact.

and that would be interesting for would be jailbreakers.

because basically, on ios you need to add the testers phones to a list before they can get the testing version. there's a limit on how many testers you can have.

on android, all you need is the tester to switch a setting to allow him/her to install your .apk that is not from a trusted source. the tester doesn't even need a google account.

on windows phone, you just need to jump off a cliff, upload it to the store and test as beta from there(after you add the microsoft account email addresses of the testers), or just jump off the cliff.

now this makes early testing with a large group a pretty shitty endeavor on everything else than android, though ios/wp way has some access control if you're worried about leaking. but as you may have noticed only on android you're not putting the app through systems of another company. it's a kind of tradeoff.

of course, as an user, the android way is the best way - unless you enjoy using computers where you don't have admin rights(but that have shitty browsers that run as root).

99% of "doxing" is straight white males so in this case.. yeah.

besides.. anyone who goes on such sites is already looking to go to such sites, you don't end up on them by accident. boycotting by the average persons does nothing. are they also proposing to boycott sites that post illegal erotic material?

furthermore the proposed boycotting those sites is 100% exactly "ignoring the trolls" so what the fuck.

besides than that, a big issue with gamergate is that.. well, you can't just pull the harassment card out when you publish a game that is a troll itself and then do.. things.. to get said game publicity. the game itself is nothing special, not unique in it's depression theme even(insanity, depression etc are all common themes for "dark" adventure game themes).

but why I say the game itself is a troll that it's engineered, or the publicity around it was, so that if you said something bad about it you were a "BAD PERSON" and didn't understand depression and lacked empathy and all that shit. It seems like it was socially engineered from day 1 rather than be just a good game to be something that you can't say a bad word about without being a bigot! so as a result I've done my best to ignore the damn thing, to ignore gamergate in general.

and strangely enough, Roberta Williams never seemed to have any trouble of the sort either? in the motherfucking 80s. it's persons who irritate and latch on to tech/gaming industry as a way to make money without worthwhile contributions that seem troubled by gamergate type of things, by doxing - who make big waves by claiming that it's just their gender, sexuality, race or whatever that's keeping them down and not that they're bad community managers, not that they're bad game developers, not that they're just not good at what they do(and usually that what they do is nothing)..

simple fix for gaming community: don't read shitty gaming sites. pay no attention to the name of the developer, pay attention to the quality of the game. that's a golden tip since even Bioware releases crap. even Warren Spector has released crap. Carmacks engines have been used in Crap with a capital C. Molyneux released utter crap. Origin got bought and released some phenomenal crap in a franchise that was pure gold in all of it's previous PC titles.

oh well.. at least the gaming press isn't doing professional "reviews" 4 months in advance of the games release anymore based on fucking screenshots and the previous game having been a good seller, like it did back in late '90s..

and as for depression, you try quitting alcohol due to health reasons at ~27 years old party guy. it's easy to not drink but finding genuine fun and non drinking socalizing isn't so much of an easy task(unless I suppose you were already the type that got off from tea parties down at the church or something).

your post in the context of mars one describes just exactly the kind of space nutter that was being described, so... great job at proving his point. Tying the profitable and for reason and realistic government space projects to the subject matter of Mars One just shows how much in the nut well you are. the project doesn't have infinite time, except in the sense that they don't except to give any results before blowing through the money(transferring into the pockets of the personnel, as no actual expenses apart from those are taking place).

those darn gravity wells... you should understand that the mars one project doesn't have any steps of it figured out. basically, you and I could get together, eat a few ice creams and come up with a plan that's further planned than the mars one plan. that's why the article author thinks the mars one project is strange, since it bears no hallmarks of any serious expedition. what the author found strange is that no actual technical engineering preparations of any kind seemed to have been taking place, so at this speed the timeframe would be infinity.

I mean, seriously, you would need to be a serious "yo3d printers yo 50 years yo we can do it it's easy!" nutter to bet on their side.

it's still better thought out than SOLAR FRIGGIN ROADWAYSSS.

it's really rather nice example of an almost scam to take money from people while having to deliver nothing. nothing to get them on the hook either for fraud or anything, unlike when selling overunity machines, water engines etc. solar friggin roadways is another example of a similar techno scam that has nothing to put the perpetrators on hook - never mind the project making zero sense at all - and the believers just hype it up as "it'll get profitable with scale" while it just gets stupider the bigger the scale is(vs. putting the solar panels on almost anything else than the road. anything being really _anything_ else you can think of from lamp posts to lawns to walls to busses to fences to sides of bridges to rooftops to roofs to be built over the roads).

I think the problem is that just because people play with computers and use iphones they start to think they understand things - and for some reason stop asking questions about feasibility and think that something wasn't done just because nobody thought of it before(when in fact it wasn't being done because someone had thought of it before) - maybe that's some jobsian fantasy, people totally ignoring where jobs got his ideas from and that those ideas would have been explored eventually anyways since it wasn't really not having the idea of a gui that was keeping a gui at bay when home computers had 4kb of ram.

so we get shitloads of people on youtube believing that magnets and coils have some kind of tesla superpower locked into them that can run cars for free.. and it was seemingly easy to get thousands and thousands of people into believing that the simple reason we haven't sent anyone on a one way ticket to mars was that we didn't have any volunteers(when in fact finding the volunteers is the rather easy part of the project and everything else is very complicated and cost.).

for that to happen you need to pressure Microsoft above all else.

you know why? you know why they made a big deal of SteamOS ? because of windows 8 - had ms succeeded in it's plans to bring all windows software to the windows 8 app store, then Steam would be irrelevant.

so that was their backup. and now that microsoft failed - or at least is totally stalled - in it's efforts to bring windows app store to be the place to get stuff you would get on steam - there's not so much need for it.
