Submission + - Register of Copyrights Marybeth Peters Retiring (arstechnica.com)
MelodicMotives writes: Ars Technica is reporting that the current Register of Copyrights Marybeth Peters is set to retire at the end of this year. "Peters has been the Register since 1994, overseeing the Copyright Office during a hugely contentious time. Her tenure has included Napster, P2P lawsuits, DRM controversies—the entire shift towards the Internet and the subsequent interest taken in copyright law and fair use even by ordinary consumers." The position is now open for applications! So who should become the next Register of Copyrights as we look towards 2011 and beyond? Can I nominate Lawrence Lessig?
