Google and Android are now getting old. And so are Apple and its iPhone's and Mac's. It's about time we see newer companies like Microsoft, Xiaomi etc. come up with amazing new products. Although I do agree that it will be hard for a new and small company like Microsoft to break-in into big markets, but so were Google and Apple many years ago. I think the article is referring to time-translational symmetry. Which is what results in conservation of energy. If you claim that time translational symmetry is violated, then you are also claiming the violation of the conservation of energy. Although nothing forbids either, but it would have been big news.
