I'm burning a well deserved mod point to post this.

I'm not so sure the NRA doesn't use FUD as their primary tactic to keep themselves funded. I'm a gun owner, I have a carry permit, and I own scary 'assault rifles'. I joined the NRA to support my right to own firearms.

Then the NRA started sending me letters.

First, Obama was going to take away all of my guns. Next it wasn't just Obama, but the entire UN coming after my guns. Next the single greatest threat to this nation was Obama. It just kept rolling on and on. Most of the arguments presented in the letters were pure FUD, the kind that would make old Microsoft proud. It was enough to ensure I never give them money again. I've donated to state groups and I'm still looking for a sane national gun lobby.

In regards to the topic of smart guns. I personally don't want one, but I don't see anything wrong with them. I don't think that mandating smart guns will have any effect on gun violence. If I can steal my dads gun to go to school, I can steal the watch it uses to fire. If I'm going to commit a crime with a gun I bought, I bet I bought the device to fire it. That's no reason to stop working on smart guns, but this technology should remain the choice of the end user.

I'm not really interested until I can get a reliable 300 mile range. This lets me go visit my parents, do some moderate driving while I'm there and still makie it back home on one charge. I could probably get by with the Tesla S 85, but the cost is out of my league. 60k is the top end I can afford for a car and it needs to have the same luxuries as a similarly equipped BMW, Audi, Mercedes, etc.

This means leather, heated seats, high-end audio, GPS, collision detection, cameras, etc pretty much standard at that price point.

I ripped my whole collection to mp3 years ago.

Recently during a move to a new computer I discovered that many of my songs had been corrupted from years of moving without any check-sums to validate the copies (just drag a folder from finder window to finder window or explorer window to explorer window, etc).

I had to go back and re-rip most of my collection (this time to flac).

I really feel like most of what people use jquery for today is already covered by the latest browsers. The last few projects I've done have been without jquery and I didn't write any work around code.

The big push would be just getting users to stop using the outdated operating systems/browsers and just upgrade.

I understand the reasons behind H1-B, but imho if the USA really has a lack of the job skills we are supplementing via H1-B then we should be doing more to build those talents. Failing that, we should simply stop giving out H1-B and create a fast track to a green card or citizenship for people with skills our country lacks.

This gives those workers the ability to leverage their employers and work in the market. This keeps wages competitive and strengthens our country.

Same reason he had to tell us he can't see the future multiple times when obviously the poster was asking about his opinion on the direction technology is heading. It's not like any person on the planet thinks he can actual see the future. If he could I doubt he'd spend all his time doing his insane preaching.

He's an asshole who uses language as a tool to feel superior.
