In some countries bribes are just part of doing business. In others it is quite illegal.

No, I think you both still miss the point. I was "first post" before this article, Snowden, or anyone else. I was saying this was happening before even Slashdot's founding. I simply guessed it, well over a decade ago by following the money. Only then I wasn't rated "+5 Insightful" I was rated by my peers as "-5 crazy for saying the emperor is naked."

I'd like to hear him explain his regret in a little more detail. Was it morally wrong? Was it against civil ethics? Was it anti-democratic? Was it illegal? Or was it that they got caught?

For everyone who is about to object: what do you think a drug bust looks like? They posed as drugs consumers/dealers and busted the parties buying/selling. This seems like what my taxpayer dollars should go towards: stomping out illegal activity where it is prevalent.

In my state they made preschool "free". Within the year the tuition costs tripled from previous levels that were flat the previous 5 years. Every time the government offers something for free it's cost becomes unbearable.
So what you are really saying is that contracting out work that should be handled by the government to private businesses results in problems? Didn't see that one coming.
