my personal experience as of late is this: our company, before downsizing, was around 100 employees in 3 locations. 2 exchange servers, multiple AD servers, FTP, etc. roughly 15 servers all windows. with that many desktops and that many servers i could handle it all. once you whip the servers into shape and get some desktop management going it's smooth sailing. a good IT admin with experience can handle quite a bit more than someone with say 3-4 yrs experience. i can handle 200 employees and 15 servers if they are all in the same location

New WoW Patch Brings Cross-Server Instances 342

ajs writes "World of Warcraft's Wrath of the Lich King expansion was staggered into 4 phases. The fourth and final phase, patch 3.3, was released on Tuesday. This patch is significant in that it will be the first introduction of one of the most anticipated new features in the game since PvP arenas: the cross-realm random dungeon, as well as the release of new end-game dungeons for 5, 10 and 25-player groups. The patch notes have been posted, and so has a trailer. The ultimate fight against the expansion's antagonist, the Lich King a.k.a. Arthas, will be gated as each of the four wings of the final dungeon are opened in turn — a process that may take several months. The next major patch after 3.3 (presumably 4.0) will be the release of Cataclysm, the next expansion."

Submission + - Which keyboard/mouse combo has the best range? 1

Crumpile writes: A lot of /. readers may find some empathy in my cause in finding a good solution to keyboard/mouse combo for a living room entertainment PC. As televisions become more like computer monitors I am finding many PC users (me included) hooking up PC's to HD televisions. I've been an I.T. Admin for about 8 yrs and have since converted from the traditional office desk/monitor setup to a living room HD TV setup for my main PC. I game on this box as well as all internet/photo editing, etc. (the GF can get a little upset at times but I love my setup!). So here's the problem: I recently moved to a larger home and my mouse/keyboard combo does not reach. It does not seem like signal strength is touched upon much in forums or reviews. As PC's become more entertainment driven I have a feeling that this will change the market. Downloaded movies and music can be enjoyed much easier this way. Does anyone have a keyboard/mouse combo that works well farther than the traditional 6-8 feet like most wireless combos?
