When I see someone still using film. I mean, come ON, it's 2012 already!
Seriously, though, did anyone else think the rent-a-cops were bullying the guy for using last century's tech?

After all, if it had been a legitimate forced-install, the computer has ways of shutting down those ports so the naughty bits can't take hold on the internal disk.
I can't speak to whether QR codes can stop forgery of the currency, but a QR code, by itself, can't infect anyone with a virus. What kind of bank system would blindly go to whatever website is suggested by an illegitimate QR code?
Perhaps, but a robot wouldn't have had a toothbrush in space, would it?
Just wait 'till he gets his hands on the Silmarillion. It would open the door to a decade+ soap opera television for geeks!
Sounds like the "stiction" problem that used to plague our old Mac SE drives on campus. We weren't quite so gentle with trying to un-stick them, however.
Maybe he can find an open-source companion?
A 4-finger swipe on an ipad will switch between running apps. (just discovered this, myself, and it's really handy)
But don't forget about the dangers of the backhoe, which has severed all too many buried fiber connections. I'd like to think that a high voltage line would be marked better than some fiber thrown down in the 90's, but won't hold my breath.
I don't think it's so much about the individual person that's holding the office. But that it would be an affront to the *office* that people would be shocked by the attack. And it would be a ginormous PITA to replace them.
Well, that's my wishful thinking, anyway.
Couldn't agree more. I loved reading Clancy's books in H.S. & college, but then I hit a wall and realized his later ones were blatant glorification of everything military, with at least one rant per page about how the military was underfunded (oh noes!). That was in the mid-90's, so I guess the funding issue was timely. Sad to see that the storytelling went downhill (while ramping up the propaganda) from there. I'm sure that part my dissatisfaction was my own maturing and greater awareness of politics.
After racing my son in Mario Kart, I had a strong urge to throw the *^%@# controller across the room. Fortunately I'm mature enough to control my temper, and instead handed the wheel to my wife and told her "YOU can race him on Rainbow Road".
Because as someone who writes SQL queries all day long and thinks this is silly, I now have a reason to feel superior.
It's an average, not a sum.
(or was that a big "whoosh" I just heard?)
Of course we are panicking! If the uranium melts through the planet, where do you think it's gonna come out? (kidding)
The major difference between bonds and bond traders is that the bonds will eventually mature.
