Comment Thank you Sun Microsystems and Macromedia! (Score 1) 238

For making the internet nearly unusable for many (most?) people, even with reasonably modern computers...(I'm watching you Adobe...) Anyone want to argue against the notion that Java and Flash aren't the most optimized platforms for anything? Will be ordering 10+ of these things. Hopefully if enough are purchased, they will have the resources to develop an improved product line. So long as it doesn't become the 'Yugo' of the computing industry. Actually, I think there is a real need for a 'Yugo' in this market. Referring to its price point, not the quality.

Like every other manufacturer, they have good and bad products... Late 90's Chevrolet Lumina/Monte Carlo was a great car (aside from some engine gasket defects)... Hummer H2? You all are welcome to your own opinions, but I'm not a fan... Hyundai/KIA products are definitely competitive these days though...

No.

If you don't use it, just cut the antenna; if you do use it, despite knowing this, you have basically rendered any future complaint you have pointless, since you've already told them it's okay to do this.

In this day and age, if the OS+hardware combo is stable (hmmm....), you can elimininate most of your startup times with suspend/hibernate functionality... saves power and effort in the long run. All this newfangled quick-boot crap seems to be basically a glorified hibernation resume. Not a bad idea, but while it may be new to MS Windows, the concept of loading the functional parts of a system directly into ram from an image is certainly not. It's also a bit less lame than I make it sound... http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2011/09/08/delivering-fast-boot-times-in-windows-8.aspx
