Comment Re:Fuel Savings (Score 1) 253

Well those 11,000 iPads will be shipped once. They will however save fuel repeatedly on flights on an ongoing basis, so it would hopefully be a net savings. Unless they upgrade every year.

My concern would be, will the iPads affect the critical navigation systems in the planes, and will they be too much of a distraction to the pilots if there are (inevitably) other apps on them? I suppose someone thought to consider that, right? Right??

Some of them may sound close, but I've yet to find one that *feels* right. IMO, it's due to the small amount of latency, and the lack of interaction between the speaker cab and how vibration from it affects the tubes.

The Axe-FX may be a new breed of technology though, I've never tried it. But if it's good enough for Mr's Vai and Petrucci who am I to disagree!

That's temporary though. Solar will look pretty attractive when the oil prices skyrocket because the oil *starts* to run out (it doesn't have to even run out, just become more scarce and the prices will go skyward). But you have to have the foresight to put the solar infrastructure in place before you need it, like now, when it doesn't look like it can be self supporting. So the subsidies are necessary to kick start the industry. I don't see anything wrong with govt's actually being proactive about something for a change. They blow plenty of money on less worthy things.

Comment I'll take the lack of cables thanks. (Score 1) 208

Sure you can make your own. But can you fit it into the same size/footprint of the time capsule. Nope. Can you make it without all the messy cables hanging all over the place, and adapters, and power cords? Not really. Will it require more than 1 outlet?

The time capsule may be a bit over priced, but the functionality *and* design make it worth it to me. Nothing wrong with the DIY method, but it's nowhere as neat of a solution.
