How Classsmate PC Stacks Up Against OLPC 284

Inevitable comparisons will be made between the two (especially since OLPC's chairman Nicholas Negroponte called Intel's move "predatory"), so Linux.com's Tina Gasperson and her kids took a Classmate PC for a test run to see how it does in the real world. The upshot? Good battery life, easy to use, and great with ketchup. 'The Classmate is so adorably cozy it make you want to snuggle up on a comfy couch or lean back on some pillows on the floor while you surf. Good thing wireless is built right in. Too bad the typical Linux foibles apply. The first snag was having to log in as root to check the system configuration because the Classmate wouldn't log on to the network. Japan Scrapping Moon Mission 70
jonerik writes to mention the AP is reporting that Japan may be scrapping their upcoming moon mission. The original plan was for the "Lunar-A" probe to implant two seismic sensors on the moon, however, the project took so long that the delivery probe has fallen victim to neglect and would take too much money to repair. From the article: "The mission would have been Japan's first to the surface of the moon, and was originally scheduled for lift off in 1995. [...] JAXA's space development committee recommended canceling the Lunar-A project on Monday, and a final decision will be made later in the month, [Satoko] Kanazawa said."

I should note that I will soon remove the link containing copyrighted material. If you don't own the CD (Eric Johnson's Ah Via Musicom), buy it. The sound/production is decidedly late 80s/early 90s, but it is a must for every guitarist's collection.

Okay, so it's only still officially the first of November in a time zone or two. The late post is partially because I wanted to actually watch The Daily Show for once and partially because I took so long to find the damn CD.

The world is flat.
There are a few dozen or so infidels across the land who are planting seeds of an appaling fabrication, saying the world is not the center of the universe but rather it orbits the sun.
Ludicrous!
They say the moon in turn orbits the world (at least it's not entirely delusional) and that occasionally the world passes BETWEEN the moon and sun, casting its shadow on the moon, a spectacle ultimately visible from the ground.
