Addiction is a medical issue. Rape and mass murder are rather serious crimes. If my child became addicted to a substance, I'd take it in my house at any cost. But in the case of rape or murder, well, that will end family ties for a few decades.

Always the same story since I started out in IT. First centralization, then decentralization. First coupling, then decoupling. First the terminal, then the fat client, then the thin client. First the server web apps, then the native client apps and so on and so on. It's just ping pong.

Those watches don't need an extended applecare plan to be supported for decades. They are made by companies whose core business is making watches. And they are still in prestine condition after half a century. When you suddenly need funds, you can always sell that Rolex you inherited. Now try to imagine a Pawnstars episode with someone offering a 10 year old gold applewatch with a dead battery (not servicable ofcourse), for 10k.

It will be really cool to wear in a three years time, when the device is no longer supported for updates. Or in 5 years time, when the batteries are dead, the charger is no longer produced, and the owner realises that it would have been a better investment to buy a real watch for that money. 10k for a watch with a one year warranty, hopefully the owners can afford applecare. But in current copyright law, there is no longer a viable way to create a derivative work and benefit from it. In the past, when a new music or art style became popular, many people would start creating by copying each other. Even the last two major music styles to emerge, hip hop and edm, started by using existing samples and copying each other verbatim and not bothering other artists with royalty claims. This is now legally closed, the estates of deceased musicians will sue for use of specific words, a chord scheme or bass line and get rewarded. People are just too damn greedy. What happened to 'limited time' and 'public domain'?

I remember wearing a headset at cebit a few decades ago. So what they claim is that shortening the cable to the computer and shrinking it the electronics is patent worthy.This patent is too obvious and will fail in court.

Didn't I vote for that guy?! Oh wait .. It's not allowed to vote for people so high up the ladder in the EU. You can only vote for the EU parliament which has no power. This is the main reason why the majority of the EU citizens REJECT the EU. Everytime they put a treaty or 'eu declaration of rights' up for vote, people reject it en masse. Do the politicians listen to the people? No, because these treaties get implemented anyway. The only way to get rid of the EU is by voting for even worse alternatives such as communism, fascism or worse, it's a catch-22.. Mark my words, net neutrality's days are numbered in the EU.
