How Much is Your Right to Vote Worth? 857

Attila Dimedici writes "Two thirds of the students at NYU would give up their right to vote in the next election for a full scholarship. Some would be satisfied with an ipod. A few would be willing to give up the right for the rest of their lives for one million dollars."
It's funny. Laugh.

Submission + - Disney Leads Invasion of Canada (www.cbc.ca)

TiiTiisMe writes: A video promoting the advantages of moving to the US has been donated to the government by Disney (So trustworthy, so liberal, so neutral http://sqrville.org/article.php/250). The video lays claim to Canada's portion of the Niagara Falls (The big part that everyone takes pictures of) as a natural American wonder. It's shot from the Canadian side, too (http://www.infoniagara.com/attractions/indexf.html). Though the State Department has refused to recall the film; destined for airports, embassies and citizenship drives worldwide; some Canadians aren't too pleased. The media for instance: the CBC's title for the article is "US annexes Canadian landmark in new video promoted by the State Department" (http://www.cbc.ca/cp/Oddities/071028/K102806AU.html). Love it. This is right up there with Canadian Celine Dion signing at the Atlanta Olympics.

Submission + - New Daylight Savings Time changes causes glitches (thenewspaper.com)

Relayman writes: "I'm suggesting a general item that covers the various glitches that occurred because computers and people switched to standard time on Sunday, Oct. 28 instead of waiting until Nov. 4 (United States and Canada). For example, in Baltimore the "intelligent" parking meters incorrectly issued tickets based on parking in a space during a time that was not allowed. According to the Daily News, Blackberries also had the problem, although the article didn't say if it was all Blackberries or just some. In Toronto, the CityTV CityNews Web site was off for several hours on Sunday until the problem was fixed, according to the Globe and Mail. There may be more cases of clocks incorrectly set."
